Quint has got to be one of the greatest characters in movie history. When he walks up and starts with Jesus h Christ, I just start laughing. Shaw really knew how to deliver lines. Robert Shaw played quint perfectly. Still love to watch him in jaws. He really knew how to play an old salty sea captain.

+jakeworld He's fucking brilliant. When I was a little boy and saw this film I didn't understand what actors were. I thought Quint was a real person. Robert just totally inhabits the character. The blue collar way he walks. His needling of Brody. He's an asshole. But you love him. When Shaw shows up in Jaws the whole thing goes a notch up. And you feel it. You know incredible talent is on display. That's what makes Jaws so special.

You gotta love Quint. But i love how his little tune comes back to bite him. The spot where they filmed this moment has a nice little fast food restaurant on it now - 'The Galley.' They have a seating area in the back where you can compare it to the shot in the movie. And direct across the channel from it is the remains of the Orca - the one they used for the sinking scenes. Sadly, there's not much left of it now except a piece of the hull.
