10000% my favourite season. Really dunno why it gets so much hate, maybe because of how different it is from Season 1 (and thus the original film). I found season 1 to be peppered with dull moments, season 2 less so, but there was no scene at all in season 3 that I was bored in

@Hossak4 жыл бұрын
Does that mean that Mr Wrench and Nikki were Jewish?
@alec89044 жыл бұрын
@@Hossak no, my interpretation of it is that Ray and the jews "pardoned" Nikki and Wrench as a way to get them to finish the job of killing Varga because they weren't necessarily "good" people deserving of a pardon. One of them is a former hitman and the other killed a man after botching a robbery. He gave her that line to deliver to Varga, not Emmitt, which is why I think she met her end the way she did. Just my theory though.

@@alec8904 Definitely an interesting take. One thing about this show, there is a lot going on that is a mystery or unexplained, just like life. I guess one of the central themes in Fargo is that history has not been erased, it manifests itself in the present over and over again.

This, to me, is so much more interesting than the way True Detective teases the supernatural and lovecraftian themes. This show doesn’t veer into supernatural for long plot stretches, it simply acknowledges the weirdness of the universe and proceeds. And occasionally an antagonist gets killed by the ghosts of the victims of his ancestors via a wormhole in a magic bowling alley. Or something.

AtomValorBlack, I believe the show creators want Varga to be the polarizing villain, they couldn't have Gurka stealing too much of his thunder.... too late for me though, I could watch Goran in every scene.
@mihaa94sky7 жыл бұрын
Yuri was a minion but so far he looks more sadistic than any other villain in Fargo. Lorne Malvo liked to toy with his victims, not necessarily kill them but change their views and convince them to do bad things. Hanzee was a minion too, his entire life, before he decided he wanted to change and be the one in command, he was a cold hearted killer yes but he lost his touch and he is not as insane and sick as Yuri to me is. If I had to choose who was going to kill me out of the three Yuri would be my last choice, that guy would torture me to death, rape my wife, eat my baby, then probably throw my body from a garage or something.

@squamish42446 жыл бұрын
That's the advantage of limited format series, you can stop whenever you want if you have no more good stories in your head. You don't have to drag out storylines with filler and dumb plot contrivances to meet the season episode requirement, or not know how much time you have so your pacing is all over the place. Imagine if Lost was made today, it probably would not have gotten so 'lost'. You don't have to know much about the show to know that it fell victim to the 22-episode format and all sorts of stupid shit was crammed in that made it ridiculous. That and it didn't know where it was going, which is a separate but related issue, because it's hard to plan out a series ending if you don't know how long it's going to last.

This never made sense to me. Cossacks killing jews was a Nazi occupation thing. The show's set in modern times, and Yuri is like 30 years old. He'd have to be like 90 for him to be a "Cossack of the plains".
@antoniosalvaterra79457 ай бұрын
He’s a direct descendant of said Cossacks, this would not directly make him responsible for the killing of the Jews but we see throughout the series that he’s proud of his heritage and has more than likely killed plenty of innocent people (the hunters in the woods are a possible example but simply working for Vargas says enough). This makes him non deserving of a second chance in this surreal scene. I see the symbolism of the wandering Jew delivering a message to him as karma for how he conducted his life priding himself of the values he inherited from his lineage of killers. This is how I interpreted this scene, I might be wrong, the vagueness and dream-like feel of the scene do not help in finding a clear meaning

@antoniosalvaterra79457 ай бұрын
The scene is very dream like, while the bowling alley may or may not have been a physical place (since Nikki and wrench get away with a car found in the lot), what happens inside it is very symbolic and surreal, it serves as a sort of purgatory for the souls of Nikki, wrench and Yuri. All of them spent likely more than a day in the woods and are badly hurt, inside the bowling alley they get judged on whether they deserve a second chance at life or not. Nikki is allowed to make it out alive and promises to the wandering Jew that wrench is now on a different path from the one he walked before (mercenary for hire) and so he gets saved too. Yuri on the other hand can be seen as strictly evil, he’s a descendant of a group of Cossacks who slaughtered a Jewish community in a region of Ukraine (the massacre of uman is the real historical event, the series references it loosely while adapting it for the purpose of the story), while that does not make him directly guilty of the sins of his family he is also a killer and throughout the series we get to understand that he killed many innocent people and does not deserve a second chance at life. The “message” he receives from the rabbi is both a punishment for the sins of his family since and a judgment on how he conducted his own life. In the physical realm he likely bled to death in the woods, the show often mixes surreal elements in the story this is one of those instances. I typed this pretty quickly it might be confusing/ I might be wrong on some things

could someone please explain this scene for me? who's the guy with the suit? and how does he know Nikki?
@mckenzie.latham915 жыл бұрын
The guy in the suit is Paul Murran, he's the same guy who talks to the female police chief on the plane and then at the bar later when she goes to L.A, he's however also known by a supernatural title of The Wandering Jew... This whole scene is abstract idea that Nikki and wrench becasue of their wounds are sent to the gates of purgatory (death), and the Wandering jew let's them go back to the real world becasue they will cause trouble for evil doers the hint being Yuri's boss, the wolf in sheep's clothing, V.M. Vargas. Yuri whose also suffering from mortal wounds arrives, but the wandering jew instead shows him the visage of the woman he killed and framed a man for...Helga, and the souls of the victims of Yuri's ancestors, the Haidamaka cossacks of Ukraine...responsible for the massacre of the Jews of Uman. The idea being Yuri dies from either blood loss or infection, while his soul is judged for his crimes and those of his ancestors whom he remorselessly boasted over (like when he kills Irv blumpkin)

That's the best explanation for the whole scene. Puts it into a perfect perspective. But why did he have to meet the female cop too? Did he have any significance to her story? Also ye, my bad for replying so late

i loved sesason 3 of fargo, 1 and 2 still were slightly better but it still is one of my favorite shows ever. only the episode of the female cop learning about her father was kinda boring to watch and i pretty much skipped it entirely on my second watch through. i understand what they were going for but her character never really resonated with me, but she is an important part of the plot and the actress did a good job.

@@ericthegeneric1611 Before he throws Blumkin off the building he has this speech about being a cossack persecuting the jews in Ukraine during Czar-era Russia. Then the editing in this scene makes it looks like he are literally watching the victims of one of those massacres.

Why does everyone think yuri is now dead? I understand Paul's religious significance but how are you proposing yuri supposedly died?
@Svartalfgeist7 жыл бұрын
Gloria Burgle mentioned they found a dead Russian in the woods who died because of toxic shock. There is a timeskip of a few months between the time Sy got poisoned and when Emmet visits him in the hospital. It's definitely Yuri.
@BobTheFarm3r7 жыл бұрын
Isn't yuri syrian though? also how would Yuri have been poisoned like Sy, do we assume that Paul or the bartender had something to do with Yuri's toxic shock?
@Svartalfgeist7 жыл бұрын
Yuri couldn't be more Russian if he tried. I mean, even his name is so stereotypical Russian. (He is actually a Cossack, but still) You must be a comedian. He even made a reference to Siberia in a earlier episode. Anyway, you can also get toxic shock because of a infected wound, he wasn't literally poisoned like Sy.

There really isn't a solid explanation as of right now. The charactersname is Paul and he was introduced in episode 3 of this season, however I rewatched that episode, and didn't feel any light was shed on his character. He doesn't show any signs of being supernatural in that episode.
