For our own health and not becoming miserable in our body, we who are prone to the pudge are wise to take measures to moderate it... still, it looks like Morgan is far from getting creaky, far indeed. Quite frequently we end up with bodies whose biological tendencies aren't optimized for contemporary conditions. We can eat like sparrows and still be as plump as turkeys.

I trained a couple of barn cats when i was young. They would climb up my pants and jackets, to reach my shoulders. And then, they would ride the rest of my day. I'm glad I'm not the only one, who did or does that. They make great pair of ear muffs. And their purring makes a great radio station. All things you do out on the farm, that city folk would never even think of.

"Release the quackens!" and the quackens don't want to be released. 😁 Toby seems to be sleepy and calmer than usual. Any playing/chewing on that ball of snow is so cute. It's so rare when they don't meet you in the morning at the gate already. Someone had a busy night and decided to stay snug and warm and sleep in late. I take it as they love their new house?

Morgan, the part of the video where you were clearing the drive of snow, that slow motion footage, that was just so peaceful and relaxing, I absolutely loved it! It was great seeing Abby laying drowsy in the snow. She and Toby certainly love the snow and they certainly must be busy patrolling at night, as Abby is so tired in the morning. Both Abby and Toby seem so relaxed and happy on your farm. All your animals are very peaceful and relaxed, and look healthy and content. It's great to see the close bond you have with them. Molly is a feline supermodel. She does everything with grace, even when she's attempting to take a chunk out of her fellow cats. I noticed from the still that Toby is starting to look more like his cousin Mr. Mojo (Hidden Heights Farm) who looks like a canine version of The Rock.

It would be better to rinse the wood ash before using it as dust bath. Water reacts with certain oxides (potassium, sodium and calcium) in wood ash and form alkaline solution. Melted snow or droplets from messy drinking can roll down the feathers and form saturated alkaline droplets which may cause caustic burns. Since you're selling soap, you can always keep the water from the rinsing for soap making. That's how old school soap is made. Can probably save some money on buying lye.

@@judykinsman3258 wet cold is nasty.. but slightly colder 'snow cold' is fine. If you have some good quality clothing it's mesmerizing to go outside in below freezing weather... As long as you stay dry.

Yeah..it needs to be as far as heating bills go though. My bill for last month was a hundred dollars more than my highest bill last winter which was during the cold spell in February. And I used less heat last month. So this winter has cost me more than last years did.

It is a blessing having our very own 2 year old Maremma Sheepdog with our family. We live in the city, so he protects us - and the neighbours - as his "livestock". I really enjoy watching your 2 Maremmas in your farm. They can light up anybody's day.

Hey Morgan. I like you showing the other chores around the farm. Such as tractor work. I noticed something that may work better to clear snow. Try grabbing the loader bucket and lower it to just barely touch or hover just over the ground and push the snow like a blade. This may work better than driving in reverse and having to twist your neck to see behind you. Hope this helps. Have a good day!

hey Morgan. Thank you for answering my question about the garden hose a few videos back. I wanted to return the kindness with a idea that I found at the local hardware store for hooking up the hose to the hydrant hassle free. There is a quick connect camlocks that will screw onto the end of the hydrant and garden hose. These eliminate any fuss over trying to get the hose to turn onto the threads in freezing temps. Plus its a heck lot easier to hook up. Push in, do up the 2 locks and done. We use the bigger versions all the time on the fire department and never had issues with them in cold weather. If interested, just search for garden hose cam-lock connector. Have a great day!

they are impacted by reduction in sunlight - so production goes down in the winter unless artificial light is provided - but frankly, the chickens need a rest too. But it is true that several hatcheries had major problems - fires, etc. that reduced the qty of chickens available to produce eggs in 2022. Whether the fires/catastrophes were caused by arson or not I don't know but agriculture, in general, got hit with a lot of things that had nothing to do with the weather.

I watched a farmer who said its probably that the protein content was messed with to lower cost. More fill: less actual food. People who free range and feed scrapes didnt have the same shut down of eggs as other people.
