Glad to see you washed your hands atleast once that day 😉 Laura, for those of us who’ve been around awhile, we know the state of the tractor cab during planting and harvest, so there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. And having been around for a while, it’s been really neat to see how you’ve grown as a farmer, KZbinr, and a young woman. We can’t wait to watch you and Grant grow as a family next.

very cool! I work for the company that builds the AutoTrak assembly (large rectangular pod behind steering wheel) in Urbandale IA, it is very cool to see the completed unit in use. We also used to build the test stand that would let you take a planter module and power it up for testing in the shop. (these may have been a dealer or ag tech sector item?). Technology is an amazing thing.... there is a reason ag equipment has lots of zeros in the price tag, the capabilities are unparalleled. Hat tip to you and Grant for sharing your journey - don't forget to show yourself some grace every once in a while - you are doing fantastic! We never stop learning - the more we learn, the more we can share knowledge and contribute - your chance to shine.

Hi Laura, i stumbled over your channel some days ago and watched some of the recent videos. I wanna tell you, you're doing a great job explaining and teaching the non-farmers crowd and you're fulfilling your self-given mission really well! I'm living in the alps where nobody has those big machines and this much acres to farm - so i know almost nothing about your daily business and i've already learned so many little things, which in the end can help me too! You are a young girl and you're already leaving some big footprints in the soil I think! Just operating those big machines with the confidence and technical expertise you are showing is really impressing! Oh and to Grant - compliments, you've done great in marrying this young lady! Your a great couple - keep it up! Best regards from the Alps into the flat lands over the big lake!

It is incredible to see what technology has done to the world and those of us that can remember a time before. As a teen in the 60's I helped a farmer across the road from us. Drove a Oliver 66 plowing and such, he had a radio on it and I thought that was out of the world, now you don't even have to drive the tractor GPS does it for you!! My grandparents farmed with horses, my grandmother was born in 1893, and I have a grandson who if he lives long enough he will see the year 2100. Keep up the great work love your videos!

Well darlin' you've already accomplished the goal with me. I grew up on my uncles farm and have driven the BIG tractors and pulled large discs and planters, also worked as a younger boy doing the nasty hard field work and getting mud dirty the whole day. And she as well as myself do love the way that yours and Grants tractor looks with the fat tires!!

I always heard it referred to as "coming into your own" , IDK why, but I can tell you from experience, that it is the single point in your conscience that you realize that: " Hey, I am the man. I know as much or more than they do about what's going on. Your not going to intimidate me anymore." So from now on, YOU are the man, be the boss!

I've been watching since the beginning. I can see the differences in style of video you put out now compared to in the beginning. You have gotten a lot more confident and knowledgeable about what you are doing while farming and it shows in your videos. In the beginning you sort of referred to your dad's knowledge when you planted, harvested or needed something fixed. Now you seem to just tackle it yourself with Grant's help if extra muscle is needed. The one thing that hasn't changed is your enthusiasm for farming and that huge smile while explaining to a dummy like me that knows nothing about farming what you are doing and why. Thank you and keep up the good work.
@kevinking9850 Жыл бұрын
so I'm a bit older, when I was a boy I would help my father plant corn and potatoes using a manual planter filled with about a quart of seed. You would make a step ahead and step on the planter to drive it into the ground and then spread the planter handles. Step-Spread-Step Spread for hours on end. I started driving at 7 years old a Deere 41B? don't remember the model exactly but had to spin the flywheel manually to start (also had tricycle gear). He and my mother harvested the corn by picking and throwing into a trailer pulled by the tractor I drove.

I really don't think that people understand how much work goes into farming. There was a recent article in the National Post here in Canada that went over the fact that young people in Canada can't actually afford the cost of farming because the land is stupidly expensive. We are slowly destroying the industry that feeds us, which is tragic. Glad I found your channel and I support you and other farmers 200000%. Society thinks everything they eat is produced by magic and unicorn dreams, and that it's a Disney movie; they don't see the blood, sweat and tears that go into every kernel of corn, every bean, every leaf of lettuce, etc. Kudos to you both. RESPECT.

back in the 80s and 90s i worked on a farm and the equipment was changing a lot back then, cabs getting quieter and having air con, what a difference that made, wasn't nice sat in the cab, we burnt the stubble and the soot still used to get in the cab with all the window shut and of course i would sweat a lot so by the end of the day i would be black. there was no gps either so you had to pick a point normally using the tyres or mirrors so you didn't overlap when cultivating ect, i didn't have a phone they was like bricks and very expensive, all i had was a radio to listen to so was very boring . every day was a learning day not one day was the same. its really interesting to me how all the new tech has not only made things more accurate but safer too. thank you for sharing how this all works. keep up the good work. hope you have a great harvest will be watching to see how it goes.

Laura life is a learning curve you are never to old or to young to learn. This applies to farming. Your videos are genuinely very interesting. The start of this video your tractor was being repaired and you ended up moving seed from one tank to another to balance up the planter. All things which happened in my farming days back in the 70’s before I changed careers. Farming technology has moved on from the 70’s but the basics remain broadly the same. In my estimation your video channel is one of the best for practical modern farming and linking with non farmers who may or may not have some farming knowledge. Grant and yourself are to be applauded for your patience and explanation of farming today with us non farmers. 😊😊😊
