I've noticed that about Illinois, Indiana, and other midwest states. My Dad got tired of milking cows and sold the herd, but had beef cattle for a long time and always sheep, pigs, and chickens around. As you would know, they are not only a source of income, but also help fertilize the soil.

It reminds me of growing up on a farm in South Dakota in the 50's & 60's--no horses, though. We used tractors--Case RC, SC, & DC, plus a Massey 44 & McCormick 10-20. We used to pull hay up into the hayloft the same way.

Wow - I just got to see this video and I love it! We did a lot of similar things but mostly with our John Deere A. This is a great video to show how much fun it could be to grow up on a farm. We didn't have much money but money wasn't all that necessary - there was plenty of space and equipment to be creative and have fun.
