Since it's the first of June most of the local farms are finally getting into full swing in my area. I love visiting them during the weekend. I'm lucky because my area (Missouri) is No 2 in the country for small family farms (6,000 across the state). During the summer I can buy and find almost everything I need from local farmers. The quality is fantastic too. About 12 miles from me there's a family that makes cheese. About 10 years ago they entered their goat cheese in an international competition in Europe. They won first place. According to the Europeans, the world's best goat cheese in 2012 was being made on a tiny farm in rural Missouri just up the road from me. 😅

Hi Kevin, Hawthorne Valley Farm shop is amazing. Abundant with all the best ingredients and spotlessly clean. It must be an absolute joy to shop there. Regrettably, I'm a non-driver so can't get to such places. That said, I buy most of my shopping right in the centre of Manchester. The selection is good but nothing like as diverse as yours. I've been watching other KZbin videos and recently discovered that besides the beautiful countryside of the Hudson Valley, you have a number of beautiful grand Gilded Age houses in the area. Yours, of course pre-dates a number of the bigger houses but is far more cosy and well kept as a home and not as a museum. Very much nicer, by far. Your coleslaw recipe is similar to one I have, minus the syrup. I stopped making mine as it includes English mustard which I've found just isn't to my taste. Your recipe looks very tempting, minus the sour cream which, again is not something I enjoy. I was surprised you didn't add any onion to the salad but probably that would be too strong and unbalance the taste too much. Eating it separately with the burger and bun works perfectly. Great ride out to Hawthorne Valley and Margo's Flower stand with a delicious burger supper to follow. Thank you so much for inviting us along for the day. I'm already looking forward to our next outing. Much Love as ever, Steve xxx

It's in the crystal ball - coleslaw will become a frequent side dish in this household. I made my Black Bean Burger mixture, it's sitting in the fridge patiently awaiting the call to action.
