Hearing the recorded version, I would never have thought Wilco could recreate Impossible Germany live so well. Strong work Wilco, strong work.

I only knew this song when I saw them in ACL way back in 13. To this day, one of the best concerts I have ever seen.

@@adriangarcia6090I saw them during that tour. They were supporting Bob Dylan with My Morning Jacket opening.

You want to know how great of a guitarist Nels Cline is? Jeff Tweedy, a remarkable player, pays the man to improv solos over his solos.

I like listening to all the live versions I can, just to hear how it varies. It's very consistent, yet always different. How is Farm Aid doing? I'm glad they are still around. It's a bold fight to go up against the government. It sucks that we have the government as the 'enemy within' paying farmers, essentially to not farm. At least that's how the few farmers I've spoken with describe it. I heard one farmer out in east Texas tell how he was paid to just let meat (beef) go to rot, rather than letting it go to market. Here's to Farm Aid!

That just blew my mind!! I remember when Nels Cline was in a bitchin band called BLOC back in the late 80’s here on the LA Scene! They were great! Cline reminded me (a little bit) of Alex Lifeson in Rush with his moody use of effects and picking styles. He often wore a cowboy hat.. tho they were not much like WILCO., They were kind of a funky eclectic power pop band that I thought were destined for greatness. I am glad to see that Nels Cline made his way into Wilco and got the recognition he deserves. He’s fantastic!

That part where bassist John Stirratt looks over at Nels like "What's he doing?" is great!

A guitar solo takes place in the heart and mind of the player, not the fingers. Discuss.
@danielbell4007 Жыл бұрын
Yes and no. If the player has the mind, and the heart but not the fingers it cannot translate. If the player has the fingers but not the mind and the heart then it’s just shredding nonsense. The mind, the heart, and the fingers must all be engaged to get this kind of performance.

yep. it's terrible in the mix. it sounds like a kick for black metal. maybe not their best engineered show.
