My dad would be very happy to how many Molines are still running. He was with Moline from 1947 to 1975. He was lead engineer for Moline. I helped him get the G100 ready for final approval for production. His name is Charlie Barth he passed away in latte 1975. ENjoyed your film. Charles Barth Jr.

Spent a fair amount of time on a Cockshutt 1900 with the GM Canada two stroke diesel in it. I figured out that “double H” transmission before my dad did, since the sticker wasn’t all that obvious to a tall person, and my dad wasn’t a tractor guy anyway. Loved that sound. My in-laws had a WHITE 8900 combine with the big Perkins in it. That filled a lot of bins. Great video.

Thanks Colin. I bet that two stroke sounded cool while working under a load.

G-1000 110hp had a weak pinion bearing. Go out and wreck ring gear and pinion. Also old style Nova injection system. Injectors sprayed across to an energy cell. Too much cast around these parts to get proper cooling- cracked heads. This problem tractor wrecked MM. But White was going broke anyway. Last desperate attempt was painting Olivers yellow with Moline grills. The G-900 98hp did much better. Same differential. Grew up in a dealership with Ferguson MM Versatile and many short lines. Seen all the mergers to MF and White. Drove many of the varied models new and many old Z. U. G. 5 star. Jet star. M5. M670. G-705. G-IV called G-6. 900. 1000. 1355. All the Fergusons. Massey Harris. Massey Ferguson. Some Olivers 1555 1655 1755. 2255 with Cat V8. We sold a lot of Augers. swathers. Tillage equipment. Wagons. Combines. Bailers. when other dealers couldn’t get stuff. Fun times.

My favorite was that Minneapolis combine or I think it was a GLUX with the “fancy” cab. Last time I saw either working in the field was at the Albert City Threhsermans show in Iowa. I think they’re hosting the Midwest Minneapolis collectors club again in 2022 which I’m really excited for.

It is so depressing to see these pieces of American farming history just wasting away, imagine the stories each of these tractors could tell, what a shame. I can just picture a farmer buying one of those tractors when new and how proud that farmer felt buying it, then also knowing the farmer that bought these tractors new is more then likely has died. This just shows where a young smart mech should turn up with just enough cash to say buy that car looking tractor and pound the dents out of the front fenders and sweetly paint it to double his investment and then buy five or ten more of this yards tractors for the least amount possible to get them working on small farms and wood lots where they would be massive useful. Not sure about those big propane tractors as if the engines are not frozen are probably still good but converted to gasoline to be more useful. Not sure. Those large articulated propane trackers would break the bank with no difficulty.
