Great visual aid. It was helpful; since I had my governor off and wasn't quite sure how to time the gear to the camshaft. The manual dose/t address this. I found the one mark on the gear, now to find the marks on the camshaft. Excellent. Earl from Delaware

I've always been intimidated by the thought of taking an engine apart. After watching you do it a few times, I know I can. I expect I'll have to re-watch the details of this one more than once, but I know I can do it. Much appreciated!
@CanadianRedneck15

If I can do it you certainly can! Take your time and it helps if you have lots of space to lay everything out in order of how it came apart. It's not a bad idea to take pictures or video of each step also so you can reference it when you put things back together and there are lots of videos on youtube to help. :) Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. I just bought a Farmall 100 from a man. I had looked at the tractor a few months ago, when he would start it up it would run wide open. He repaired the governor, by replacing the small spring in the shaft. Now the tractor back fires when trying to start it. I think he got the timing off by a tooth when re-assembling the governor. Can I retime the distributor by moving it one tooth after checking for TDC? Or do I need to pull the front of the tractor to reset the timing at the governor/camshaft? Thanks, Ken

If you check out about the 3 minute mark of this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6fCl5ugbdWdisk it shows the timing process for your distributer, no need to pull anything apart. Thanks for watching!

@@CanadianRedneck15 Thanks, that's the plan, just rotate #1 to TDC and check alignment of the rotor button.

@@CanadianRedneck15 Got the tractor running today. I had to move the #1 plug wire to between 8-9 o'clock from the normal 1 o'clock position. It would run for a few seconds and die. I finally pulled the carb and cleaned it One of the jets was completely blocked and another slightly. Still running to high RPM and carb is leaking, I'll figure that out, just glad it's running.😀

Hi Dave, Do you by chance have any videos of timing a Farmall that uses a magneto instead of the Set up you had on this A?
@CanadianRedneck15
@CanadianRedneck15 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I don't. It's a similar process though, get the engine to TDC #1 and install the magneto so it's on the way to #1, roll it til it trips and tighten down. Thanks for watching!
@arlenangell7797
@arlenangell7797 3 жыл бұрын
You mentioned that #1 is at TDC when the double punch on the governor gear is in alignment with the marks on the cam gear. I’m putting a C-113 together now from a B, and something doesn’t seem right. When the crank punch is aligned with the cam single punch mark, the crank is a few deg after TDC on intake stroke. Wondering if that’s right or if I’m off a tooth, or a tooth and 180 deg.
@CanadianRedneck15
@CanadianRedneck15 3 жыл бұрын
The one dot on the crank lines up with the one dot on the cam and the 2 dots on the cam line up with the 2 dots on the governor at which point it should be pretty much on TDC. Thanks for watching!
@arlenangell7797
@arlenangell7797 3 жыл бұрын
@@CanadianRedneck15 thanks! The videos have been helpful. I have an issue then. When I line up as you say, #1 piston is about 3/16 down past TDC, and on the intake stroke. Don’t really understand how that could be!
@arlenangell7797
@arlenangell7797 3 жыл бұрын
@@CanadianRedneck15 is the single punch and the double punch on the cam gear exactly 180 deg apart, or are they supposed to be 1 tooth off from 180? If that’s the case, then I think I know what happened...some clown made another mark 1 tooth over. Then it appears that #1 would be at TDC on exhaust stroke when everything is lined up. Maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be!
@CanadianRedneck15
@CanadianRedneck15 3 жыл бұрын
@@arlenangell7797 It sounds like you have the cam 180 degrees out, the punch marks on neighboring teeth go on either side of the double dots on the governor gear. When everything is lined up it should be on TDC compression.

Hello I feel like a dope I just finished commenting on your last video why the governor is timed but if I would have watched this video you of course explain it by reassembling! But one question I forgot to ask on your last super a video I noticed that when you were installing the rod bearings and I could be wrong but it looked like you touched them with your finger before you put oil on then my Dad told me that that was a no no because of the oils from a person’s skin would harm the bearing is that a myth? And does the Super A have the same carburetor as the Ford 8N ? Appreciate your video and thanks for making them, My Dad had an A when I was really young so I can’t exactly remember everything about it and your video brought me up to speed! Keep them coming!
@CanadianRedneck15

The oils/sweat on your fingers can damage (rust) unprotected metals but I oil the bearings right after being handled so that negates and harm from my touch. 8Ns all used a Marvel Schebler carb, Super As used Zenith, Carter and Marvel Schebler carbs, but the Marvel Schebler would not be the same one. Thanks for watching!
