Cherish the moment working with your Dad!!! The older iron is much easier to work on than the high tech machinery of today. The manifolds must've been a common issue...had a 300 with the exhaust pipe threads stripped out.

Love it just love it. Don't know how you feel about it but 1 more "upgrade" that I put on mine is one of those control levers to set the brake lock with. As I got older and fatter that catch seemed to get further away and harder to reach every year. That handy little rod makes it child's play. Thanks for the content.

I definitely would use one of those levers for the brakes. That is a really nice upgrade.

Some comments are from idiots. There's absolutely no way you can put the U-bolts in the light bars backwards. It's impossible. The alternator may not charge until you rev it up a bit. Alternators like to run fast and some don't start to charge until you speed up the engine a bit. If the wires are backwards on the ammeter, no biggie, just reverse them. I was going to wire up the 400 this week with the alternator and post a video, but I got very busy and you beat me to it. To correctly wire the ammeter, the main feeder must be isolated, and the wires that feed the ignition switch and light switch hook up with the alternator wire on the other side. Good job. I agree with upgrading to an alternator on those, but a lot butcher the tractors up to put an alternator on. It's much harder on an H, W-4 or 300 as there's less room under the hood. I still like the generators, but the problem is the regulators are no good. On the Diesels especially I still use them, as it's harder to mount the alternators on them and they are 12V anyway.
