Another good one FMD. I am coming to realize how much mechanical aptitude Farmers really need and how most really love and embrace technology...

After years of plowing with tucks and eqpment I have learned to lock tight ever bolt and welded it if you plan to keep the truck! have seen a lot of people go broke plowing snow if you have the wrong operator .I am sure you have seen that! :)))

Those brackets you removed from the frame are called compatability brackets , they are for crash protection and must be reinstalled if the snow plow undercarriage is ever removed.I install snow plows and truck equipment for a living,BOSS,Meyer,Snowdogg, and Snoway.And BOSS,Saltdogg,Meyer,ect. Salt spreaders.The RAM trucks are considerably easy on the gas models , diesels are a totally different job. The bumper bolt heads either have to be cut off , or the charge-air-cooler has to be removed , bumper bolts removed ,and charge-air-cooler reinstalled.But you've done a good job.Lok forward to your other vids.

its almost a year since you posted this video and ill be putting on my Lot Pro today. The dealer was great to work with but wanted 600 for install. I thought that was a little on the high side, so I decided to do it myself. We shall see how this goes

Nice install. Noticed your plow headlights aren't straight. Not sure if you aligned them yet but if not aim at your building at night until there to your liking. Once there's snow on the ground plowing with unaimed lights gets annoying fast.

You should consider a strobe light for your roof. Better to be safe and seen than sorry. Whelen is a little pricy but worth it.
@clintymouse6 жыл бұрын
Agree!! They are not cheap but the quality is leaps and bounds beyond other manufactures
@davidwoermansr2 жыл бұрын
I've never ran a strobe it's just like normal driving taillights are plenty good
@znovosad5552 жыл бұрын
@@davidwoermansr warning lights actually offer 360 degrees when mounted to your roof where your headlights and taillights only provide front and rear view. A rooftop warning light also identifies your truck as a vehicle performing a task. At night, or when backing out of a driveway that light lets people see you from further away. I’ve seen people use their hazard lights but that’s what they’re intended for and again don’t offer 360 degrees of warning. Hazard lights should only be used when you have a breakdown, mechanical issue, etc in the middle or on the side of the road

All 2015 and up heavy duty trucks come with a wire harness under the power distribution box to connect your headlight wires...
@johnbutson63697 жыл бұрын
I found a video from dodge depending on your year , but 2015 they started under the pdc wire leads for you to connect lights and with a power input when plow is on it will automatically shut off truck headlights . no splicing or headlight removal .

Good luck with your SaltDog spreader. Be prepared to have to beat on the salt to break it up. Also you need to adjust your headlights do they are aimed right. As they are, they are aimed at the ground.

Keep it dry you'll be fine I've only had to bash 1 chunk of salt in 30 years and that was because of a torn tarp

what made you choose meyers and not like a Boss plow
@clintymouse6 жыл бұрын
Boss plows became a fad among younger people. They are electrical nightmares and because of the lift system used, it really hinders stacking ability. Having used Meyer, Boss and Western - The Meyer will give you a cleaner job but the Westerns tend to have less hydraulic issues. Although, I hear the new Meyer plows have fixed all the issues from the past. Having many friends in their 30's-40's that bought Boss (because that's what the cool kids had) they were always dealing with electrical issues and customer complaints a thin layer of snow on driveways or parking lots. But, this is just an opinion....and as the saying goes, opinions are like assholes....everyone has one

Was the frame hard to drill? Burn up a few bits/batteries? I'd try and get the magnet drill in tho I know it wouldn't fit.
@FarmerMD7 жыл бұрын
It was not as hard as I thought. Either because of cheap metal in the frame made in mexico or good sharp bits! One bit did the job.

Might need to get some snow tires??? suggestion
@G19Jeeper7 жыл бұрын
Donald Ellett agreed, those OEM firestones don't look like they'd do well
@FarmerMD7 жыл бұрын
For some reason, people just don't do snow tires around here anymore. Maybe that's why the DC region has such a problem with driving in the snow. I think I will be ok with the tires I have and 4 wheel drive. All of our tractors will be paired with pickup trucks when plowing so I think we will manage. Thx for watching!
