Supermarkets chasing their ESG and DEI index scores to measure how "Good" they are while treating those who help generate their income like dirt. They, the super markets, are despicable.

Supermarkets have done this for years, ripping off their suppliers and their customers, profits are obscene. Recent price rises have shown their true colours, unscrupulous.

I noticed New Zealand lamb being promoted at half price in my local Morrisons with the British lamb being very expensive and almost untouched :((. I am a small sheep farmer and was finding it difficult to sale my stock at a decent price. I was told that there was not much market :((. However, no problem for New Zealand lamb :((. I saw one of the managers walking towards me and I really got on my soapbox and complained. After that the following week I only saw British lamb on sale and at a reduced price. I was only receiving about £2.90 per kilo , yet the shops sales lamb for around £17.00 per kilo :(( . Morrisons listened and made the effort to support British. They do great fish and chips too 😊

In November 2018 France was ranked "World's most food sustainable country": "France's aggressive measures to tackle food waste, *promote healthy lifestyles* and adopt eco-farming techniques helped it top a ranking of nations,.. The Netherlands, Canada, Finland and Japan rounded out the top fives, in an index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit, which assesses their food sustainability.. The US and Britain failed to make the top 20 of 67 nations that were graded on food waste, sustainable agriculture, and health and nutrition.. "France has been in the vanguard of policies and measures to reduce such losses.. France is showing that "improvements in agricultural performance should not come at the expense of environmental and social conditions," said Martin Koehring, the index's author.. Britain had high greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and it also scored poorly on water management, Koehring said. .. France also topped the index last year."

We can help farmers who can help us with good healthy food its a win win imagine a global credit freeze no transactions can take place ATMs don't work credit cards won't work eather shops will be closed because everything runs on credit farmers will accept labour for food if you have real money gold and silver can't bankrupt and has no counterparty risk unlike fiat currencies which are going to be worthless without farmers how do you feed your family

We could do with a proper choice in the UK. Right now you have the supermarkets - and a farm shop if you're lucky. There needs to be something in the middle capable of striking a good deal for both consumers and producers. Something you can depend on to have a decent range and isn't just a tourist shop. And what about street markets? They just sell imported tat. The few stalls offering food are foreign and a wee bit expensive once everything's accounted for.

My milk price has fallen by over 30% this year, yet the uk is only 65% sufficient in dairy . However food inflation is still happening, domestic food producers are hammered because they are actually subsidising the now expensive imports to maintain supermarkets obscene profits

Why do we care if stuff realistically as worthless as basic food stuffs is being imported? Farms here are and have been for decades vastly worse economically than pretty much anywhere else, we would be a lot better off all of us if we did just import cheaper food that we're not also then blasting vast amounts of money to subsidise it as we are with farmers here. This is like complaining we dont have enough sweatshops in the UK making paperclips. Surly we would want to export low paying jobs overseas where such jobs are actually viable for people rather than have them here where no one could actually afford to do them without vast amounts of tax payer money propping them up.

Calling them bullied when their given such a vast amount of subsidies is just silly. Farmers are effectively the new miners in that their pretty much dependent on tax payer money while being vastly worse than counter parts overseas, with all the support for them being done entirely for buying votes. Farmers are frankly too highly valued, they get given vast amounts of money for doing near nothing in numerous cases. Let them run an honest business where they win or fail based on their own merits and ability, not on how much they can get people to pity fund them having a zero value lifestyle at tax payer expense. Even if we really dont want to cut regualtion to help them do so, just allowing all the dead weight worthless ones to fail would help the others succeed. Plus the land going up for sale would greatly help with general development for the country rather than being used to just be paid to grow worthless crap like straw to be burnt in a power station which happens to an absolutely disgusting degree. Would be cheaper to just throw banknotes into the power stations.
