Have you considered using the "Hoggone" baiting system developed by Australian and USA research. You can take out a whole sounder, its environmentally friendly, kills within 2 hours of consumption, as it effects the oxygen within the blood and is considered humane. Its worth doing a search on it. You may get a more complete result at the time resulting in longer periods between breeding numbers jumping up. If you work in with neighbours farmers can really cut back on hog numbers, damage and costs. I have no financial or other interest in this product. As it is not a poison, therefore hogs cannot develop immunity or resistance to it.

In my area of Texas, sometimes I kill all the hogs so that I cannot find them for a couple months. Then it starts over. I have been hunting almost every night for 3 years ever since they destroyed my field (not to mention my neighbors fields). I hunt on about 5 square miles, all surrounded by county roads so I can get them going in, and catch them coming out. However, we are really wooded in the "piney woods" so they don't hang out far from the wood line and being a one-man show it takes a couple weeks sometimes to get them all. I guess what I meant to say is yes, in the immediate area, it does make a difference...but you got to stay on it.

As much h as I enjoy the night hunting with thermal, you do not put a dent in the population of.wild.hogs in Texas. Farms that we have under contract to trap have seen a 70 +% elimination rate with a 80 % cut in field and crop damage.
@johnmead88853 жыл бұрын
Most don't understand killing some is not control. Most kill some, wound and scare more away for awhile. It makes actual control (where damage is reduced to an acceptable level for the required time (e g crop rotation) much harder. Large mobs make shooting difficult, the traps seem superior. Hog shooting is a great tool to hone your marksmanship, not to say a great time! So my plans are to trap and if I mis a few I'll let the hunters know and we'll come in and do a mop-up with the rifle. Any way you put it a dead hog is a good hog regardless of the method of taking. Keep your eyes on TX, at some point there will have to be a program to pay hog trappers. There is just no way to keep up. When I do shoot I make every attempt to identify and shoot the sows.

I want to do a hog hunt! I'd love to do this! I'm curious though. When you shoot that many do you do anything with them? It seems like the smell would be terrible if left to lay. Personally I think I would want to eat at least some of them. BTW- Keep it up!

At least get some bacon off of them, otherwise you can feed them to the normal pigs lol

Excuse me never get's old alot of people are asking if you're making a difference in the one's you kill l can answer that no but the one's you do get can't breed, is it true that you could hunt everyday for a year an you still wouldn't get them all?. Stay Safe & Keep'em Coming one hog at a time. ✌️

One of my brothers managed a mega farm {one of many that he went on to mange as well} that had an estimate of over 5000 wild pigs on that one farm! You can imagine what devastation these pigs did to there crops, fencers & land. We would cull them when we could & trap many more. In the end far more of the wild pigs died of starvation & the devastating droughts than we ever killed. At least we would process & sell the pig meat to markets mostly to Europe/germany where the people love the rich flavor of wild pig/pork! It payed for our reload materials & the costs incurred on our bikes, FWD's & camping gear, weapons' & traps & we also enjoyed the out door & camping life stile as well! Killing a wild pig instantly one shot one kill is fare more humane than having thousands starving to death over months or even years in my opinion!

Given the recent issues with 'crate space' for pig livestock, it seems to me that there should be a team of people processing and selling these as "free range pork". Revolutionize the industry.

I ask purely out of curiosity. After these videos or after a kill, same for the Coyote videos, do you guys go out to try and find the bodies to use as food, or do you leave'em for the buzzards?

As a hunter I'm asking, what predator of wild pigs disappeared? This kind of imbalance indicates this.

It's the Woolf, we in 🇩🇪 Germany get him reincarnated, chipped and protected. OMG‼️😠🥊 He is hunting the piglets, also the sheep 🐑🐑🐑 from the farmers and our hunters get a problem in te last 10 years. The population of hogs are massive reduced. Last year I get my 150 pounds hog🐗 for the double price from the hunter of my trust as the year before. But I lov hog 🐗 in my kitchen 😋‼️ Smoke the bacon 🥓 by my self. Fresh bread 🍞, warm bacon 🥓, a cold beer 🍺 - and my world is OK. Greetings from 🇩🇪 to the USA 🇺🇲

There is no predator that use to keep them in check. These hogs are Russian boars and in Russia, there are tigers and bears to keep them in check. In Texas, the biggest thing we have is mountain lions but they are few and far between. These Russian boars are an invasive species and much bigger than the javelina that is a native to Texas.

When you folks take down a dozen or more hogs, do you try to retrieve the corpses or do you just let predators eat them? And I'm not asking to try to tell you what to do or what you should do.

There are many people around the world that pay to hunt, have you ever thought about changing a local problem into a larger opportunity by arranging hunting parties?? Both solve's the problem, and make's some money!

Just wondering if there is some other type of tactics to use to keep them from fleeing into the woods? Maybe setup some lights and big sounds by remote control in the distance to turn them back to you. Hopefully they'll be confused as hell. Get them again in round 2 or 3.
