The shutters are way cool. The house will be so much warmer with insulation in the walls. Heating and cooling cost should go down.

Looking good ! I think you should add trim to the roof line of the smoke house so it looks like the house.

What a beautiful property! You are so lucky to have the ways and means to bring it back to it's former glory. It's good you are saving as much of the original fixtures as possible. This restoration and the history of the house and the family who owned it would make a great book. I'd love to learn more. I hope your dad opens up the fireplaces & he puts a wood stove in the kitchen area, because when you lose your electricity in the winter due to ice storms & whatnot, they sure come in handy! thank you for the video, it is looking good!

The fire brake blocks is because it is a balloon frame house. Balloon framing was a construction method where two or more floors could be framed and erected as a single piece. Balloon framing was banned when most building codes were changed to stop fire from climbing up the inside of the wall to the upper floors.

I am wondering how you mitigate the contamination of all those paint chips from the soil. The old layers of paint are sure to have loads of lead, and sifting that out of the ground is a huge job. For sure when the painting prep commences and the scraping begins, there will be tarps. If you are scraping yourselves, be sure to mask up and don't breathe the dust!
