I love watching your channel. I'm a 60 year old woman who with my husband raised our 3 daughters on a 80 acre farm. I was a full time home maker. You remind me so much of myself in my younger days. I wish we would have had more children! My best years of life were spent on the farm being a wife, mother, and keeper of the home!

Yes. One of (if not THE) biggest regrets I have is not having more children. My husband tells me all the time I am/was happiest when cooking, baking, and pregnant.

Yes same here, thank you for both of your comments. I just had my 1st baby this year also a boy!! He is 5 months now and just coming out of a sleep regression that took a lot of sleepless nights and days. This reminded me to cherish these days as a stay at home mom and to be in the present moment right now with my family and for the years to come! Thank you ♥️

Lisa, I’m 66 and retired now. When my kids were little I stayed at home and loved being a homemaker, mom, and wife. But when they went to school, I went to school to become a nurse. I worked 30 years, 3 days a week so I could still be home as much as I could. When I look back, I don’t know how my house was clean, dinner was on the table and clothes were washed and put away! I was worried about what I was gonna do with my “retirement “ time but…….I had time to go to what I call You Tube University. I have reinvented myself and expanded my knowledge learning sourdough from your channel, making your bread recipes which are a big hit with my family and friends. You inspire this old lady ! I call myself “ The suburban homesteader “. No cows no chickens but I started a garden 3 years ago , I’m milling my own flour, canning, dehydrating, making all kinds of bone broth, so I’m not retired at all! I’m busy all day, everyday. Thank you

I wish I had someone like you 60 years ago. I found being a stay at home mom unfulfilling. I’d be working in one room and the 3 kids would be tearing another. I hated trying to come up with something new for supper all the time. Even after a divorce, going to work, getting remarried and having 2 more kids I didn’t feel like you. Everything had to be done perfectly. When I had a day off during the week I found myself standing on the counter, pulling everything off the top of the cupboards and washing them. I was much more fulfilled working outside of the home but still life was.overwhelming. Even now at 76 and living alone I think I have to decorate a lot for each season and/or holiday. You are so smart and so knowledgeable about how to get everything done and not resent each and every thing. May have saved my first marriage. 21:27

I realized years ago, when my kids were little, that I could spend every waking moment cleaning my house and I’d still never be finished, let alone be able to do anything else. My first reaction to this was anger - “this isn’t fair, I refuse to be a slave to my house” - so I had to reckon with my perfectionism (whose evil twin is procrastination) and fear of criticism. Then I started making lists, prioritizing, making routines, delegating, and telling myself, “It doesn’t have to be perfect.” I like to think I’ve made progress.

I think I’ve had a good handle on lists, routines, and even delegating for a while, but I still fight with desire for perfectionism and fear of criticism. It is hard. The only one criticizing me is me, but I have this fear that if I let something go, then all things will go along with it. It is also difficult because one thing people praise me for is my ability to get so much done, keep a clean house, etc. This has the unintended consequence of me putting more pressure on myself to uphold the standards I’ve created in my mind, and to berate myself when I fall short (which is all the time).

Thank you Lisa, your channel has helped me so much. I live in the UK and there’s a devastating housing crisis. Very few families can buy so it’s a landlord’s paradise here. We’ve had now 9 moves in 7.5 years! I was doing very well in my house juggling homemaking, kids and homeschooling until I found out we had to move again but by the grace of God a bigger place became available for us to rent only 2 doors down. It’s hard when you don’t have the money or ability to invest in your home and optimise it so homemaking is easier. But I’ve learned that even though we don’t have the same opportunities here, in reality all that matters is not how things look, but me creating a home for my family that glorified Christ, points my children to Him, and is cozy for others to come and enjoy it and see Christ in our lives.

I have 3 under 3.5, and I can genuinely say you are the only content creator who does not stress me out 😂 Typically people fall into two camps - coddling you where you are but inspiring no progress, or wildly generalizing how they get done what they get done, (hiding help and behind the scenes) and making you feel worse. You have great practical tips, it’s obvious none of this is fake, and you strike a really good balance between those two. Thank you, your stuff is genuinely so helpful.

Taking time for leisure is not laziness either. Homeschooling, homesteading (15 years) mom of nine here and we NEED to take care of ourselves. Find time in our day to sit down and sip tea, go for a leisurely walk, etc. What we get done in a day isn’t competition ladies. If you can’t get to sour dough bread...DON’T. Naturally driven people WILL eventually hit burnout if we don’t meet our physical (hello adrenal glands!), emotional and spiritual needs FIRST before the to do list. Survival mode is a thing. God gave us twin girls last year to teach me to SLIW DOWN. When you hit your 40’s, if you haven’t learned how to do this for yourself, your body will do it FOR you. Slow down mamas! ❤️🙏🏻

I’m only on baby number 3, 7 weeks post partum, but you should absolutely have more grace on yourself. What helps me is remembering there’s only a certain limit of things I need to get done when on my own with the children: make food, do bare minimum dishes, and take care of children personal hygiene. Other things can wait until husband/help comes (for example in evenings or weekends). It will all settle down and you’ll get into a new rhythm again :)

I realized with my fourth pregnancy that during the last month or two of pregnancy, I have time but not energy. After the baby is a few weeks old, I have more energy (and thus give myself a lot to try to accomplish), but not nearly enough time or physical capability. Nursing for me takes a lot of time. I have to keep telling myself this, but it’s okay to not get it ALL done for a while!

I think women like Lisa and your grandmother are just a special breed apart. My mother became a widow at 40 with 4 children ages from 1 to 8. She never allowed anyone to pursue her romantically (and they did) and somehow just managed to do it all by herself. She said she never had time for romance because her first thought was to take care of us plus our father was the love of her life. She’d be almost 100 if still alive and with the way the world is today, all 4 of us recognize, that even for her time, she was indeed a special breed and we all hope we inherited even just a small bit of what she was. Women like Lisa, your grandmother and my mom are indeed Proverbs 31 women.

I think you hit a home run in so many ways with this video! Boy, we seem to really all have some things in common. I think you described me about at least ten times! Haha. Homemakers are in charge of their home…and that can be overwhelming…thanks for the advice!!

Your channel is perfect:) I love your content and it lifts my spirit during the week. As a norwegian homemaker I am a rare specie. My friend told me this weekend "in Norway both parents always work. Thats how WE do it in Norway". Well, speak for yourself, homemaking and taking care of the kids is a priority for me. I have had my share of office days, in tears in the bathroom, because of the crazy amount of work that steals my time from the children that actually needed me. I quit my job to be a homemaker and as this first year has passed I see that I get done less then I thought. It is overwhelming and a new kind of frustrating. The advice I will take from todays video will be to write better lists and have weekly conversations with my husband about what/how/when etc. I have been following you for years and through your videos dreamt of a better life. It IS a better life. But better doesn`t mean less frustrating and less overwhelming, its just different frustrations. The tasks I do now benefit the whole family. ! Thank you for your inspiring content! Never stop posting, and there is no need for you to overthink anything. We all follow you and enjoy every video! Thank you for being you:)

Loved this video. I’m a busy 60 year old homemaker, Pastors wife and grandmother. For me, everything gets written down on my refrigerator calendar. Most days I’m motivated and able to move from one task to another. Other days, not so much. Love seeing your precious family. I saw an arm sling on someone. Hope all is well. God bless you Lisa as you serve your family! 😀❤️

We were selling our house years ago (when I had ‘only’ eight kids), and it didn’t seem too hard to keep the house always 30 minutes away from perfectly staged for showings… I can’t seem to figure out how I did that now though! You’re right… it’s just about habits and routine though. You’re filming a lot, so you’ve got that for the motivation part too. When you’re juggling lotsa balls, you prioritize things constantly. Great videos!!

This was such a timely good video! I was actually having a game when I just felt like I was never going to catch up . I have watched this video twice now, because I knew that I wasn't getting everything . I wish I could "re-like" it 😊 Thank you for the encouragement and for the good you are in the Kingdom of God! You have a Ministry of building up mothers an encouraging us in homemaking, and I believe that is where the Lord intended us mothers to be. May you and your family be richly blessed❤

"Watches" listened to this video while I made chocolate chip cookies for my family of 6. While wearing my 10 week old baby. This truly is the best time of my life! It's funny I wear my son daily but in the morning while I'm nursing him and having my cup of coffee I also sort of forget I can do this. It's all in the mind.

What is your advice on getting special projects done around the house whether they be big or small projects? What about pets and how much time and work they can take up? One thing I would recommend to young families is to keep birthday parties family-focused and simple. Think about declining birthday parties that your children are invited to which will mean not having to drive them there and picking them up and buying a gift for the other child. I know this might sound cold but sometimes I think adults make too big a deal of birthdays. What advice do you have for working in appointments, like doctor appointments. I think it is brilliant that you have the music teacher of your older kids come to your house. I didn't do this with my kids and it ate up a lot of my time. Thanks for all your advice!

I am 62 years old and I learn something every time I watch a video here. Your tips can be applied to so many age groups. One thing I loved most was your living a “home centered life”. I think everyone could benefit from a little more of that. ❤

I don't have my own home I live with my disabled parents, and disabled adult children, work, and don't have time, if dinner isn't perfect my husband won't eat it. I live as a minimalist because I can't afford many things. I have to have everything clean. I have alot of work in yard. It's hard with my schizophrenic mom, she doesn't sleep most of the time. I work part time and have to be away from home it's hard. She makes a huge mess. My dad is getting close to dementia and my mom has a Alzheimer's like symptoms. Everyday, I'm so exhausted. So when I watch your channel it motivates me to keep going, never enough time. Your house is beautiful and thanks for sharing your home, you are blessed don't forget it.

Im so glad i watched this. I get overwhelmed at home a lot. 3 girls. My in-laws live with me. School. Clean. Cook. Self employed work from home. Errands. Appointments. Husband travels out of state. I get overwhelmed when i want to do everything. Clean cook office. I get upset that no one wants to clean when it needs cleaning. They are all on different emotions and wants.

Such a fantastic message in this video! Our personalities are so similar Lisa, and yet often times on social media we see the perfection. We see the videos with a drone shot and perfect B-roll, and it makes the “average “ SAHM feel paralyzed by the overwhelming struggles of every day life. I’m so thankful that you just show the reality of homemaking and homeschooling because in that, there is such beauty!
