As the wife of a logger, I can relate to Billy' fears of not being able to get out into the woods again, as following my husbands accident that was his fear too. Thank you Billy and friends for all the kindness that comes from this channel, it's kept us sane during dark days.

I can't believe how much I enjoyed watching Buckin' get tickled over tree rings. You are to life what oil is to wood - you bring out the grain, the texture, the shine, and you put life right back into something that was otherwise feeling dried out and used up.

Buckin', I can see the back of the woodsman when he is wrangling rounds and loading up the truck, how you adapt your movements to compensate for the wear and tear. When I was in my late 20's I cut many tons of English Elm, up to 32" rounds and thought I was a tough guy tossing them into the back of my Land Rover, then at home I would be pounding the heck out of them with a 7lb maul. Often the maul would bounce off that old elm as if it were rubber. After a year or so my elbows were totally shot and in agony. Today almost 40 years later my back and joints are good, maybe not as strong as I was back then, but my core is strong through exercise. I really advise any young fellah to develop a strong core if he wants to keep up with firewood gathering and splitting. Skill can compensate for speed and brute strength. Care for your body and stay safe and strong friend.

Timidater that’s not Stink, that’s the smell of a real MAN. No one can argue with that when we at least in the Seattle area are surrounded by a bunch of wanna be loggers, kind of makes me sick, I grew up with my step dad, Phil Gilbert, a logger, in Cusco Washington St. that smell is home to me. He told me I could have a big blue Homelight if I could start it. Well I tried every day after school tell I couldn’t pull, but now I have a saw a session.

Ah Cynthia "over and frickin out"brilliant, Buckin I remember seeing some tv documentary about tree core samples years ago and it was fascinating tying in the history of weather to the growth rings including a dark area which was about the same time they thought the Yellowstone volcanic eruptions occurred covering the area in ash for ages blocking light but the tree survived.

Wow, I'd give what's left of my teeth for just one of those trees to buck and split for my firewood stack! Loving the saw, I can *almost* smell the exhaust and the sap. You need Hogan out there listening to the stories and helping you load the Merc, eh?

Man you make me laugh. Work is fun. I am 65 and still on the saw. Started when I was 13. I have the same pain. My pain comes from an IED in Afghanistan. 12 months there. I live on a farm in New Brunswick. Started out as a journeyman lineman climbing poles. Enjoy your videos. Love them old saws. Just restored a 59 Massey Ferguson 35 to showroom condition. 06:00 - off to the gym. Have a great day

So Mr Smith, I have a serious question for you my friend. We have seen you cut a lot of different trees, we all know that hardwoods burn nicely, produce great heat by weight, and aren't overly hard to split. Just wondering why you don't burn Madrone, maple and other hardwoods in your stove? Your firewood pile is all Fir. Just something I always wondered. Thanks mate 👍🏻👍🏻
