Wow a dual power Ford 7000 was the first tractor I put serious hours on as a youth and it’s the one I would try to find and restore if I could. Strangely it was replaced by a Ford 7600 Q-Cab identical to the one shown

Ey up your Lordship. Nice to see the Ergo cabbed AEC at the start of the vlog. My first tractor unit as a novice class 1 driver, at BRS Derby Branch (KA) was a 26-ton AEC. Not 100% sure of the model but Mandator springs to mind. I'd been on 4 wheelers for a couple of years prior to this and my main motor had been an Ergo cabbed Leyland, so I was familiar with the cab and gearbox which was a 12-speed splitter. I did drop a bollock one time though. I'd tipped in London and was back loaded for Liverpool docks out of a bonded tobacco warehouse in London's East End dockland. I was loading with another BRS guy from somewhere in East Yorkshire, and he had an orange-coloured Seddon with a 180 Gardner in it. He loaded first with 20 pallets and waited for me to load as we were going to run up to Liverpool together. Because I'd got a 40 ft flat tandem trailer, the same as Yorkie, the loader must have assumed I was having the same, so he loaded me with 20 1-ton pallets. After we roped and sheeted the load, we set off together. However, it soon became very clear, that I could, in no way keep up with him and after a few miles, he buggered off into the blue horizon. I think it took me something like 5 hours to get to Liverpool. Oh, happy days. 😀

"I'm in L.A." 🤭🤭 (That gave me a chuckle.) Love that 7000! That's a beauty! I have a soft spot for the Fords, they're just great tractors and they're wonderful designs. I wish Ford still made them, i know New Holland became dominant, but we can still enjoy the classics! 🙂 Nothing against NH, they're beautiful machines too.

We didn’t see that many 3650s here but they were a nice tractor. Interestingly the Turbo 6/359 was rated highly in the Kondinin tractor bible when in the John Deere but in the Chamberlain 4480 they were not rated well. Had a bit to do with the maintenance mind set of the average Chamberlain owner I suspect (as required when backed into a corner or what’s maintenance). The Sarin motors were a bit light on though compared to the US motors in the bigger US built machines. Jeff

Would be interested to know how the costing works out in the end up for the ifor trailer , especially how much getting it galvanised would cost. I done a LM146 a few years ago now and after redoing it all at the time I probably could of got a good second hand one for less than it cost , but now with the way things are I certainly couldn't, but then again even shagged out trailers make strong money nowadays so who knows , suppose if you already have the trailer it owes you nothing so it's a no brainer, , look forward to it anyways , 👍

Quite right LM, sympathetic conservation and not restoration looks far better on that 7000 than a total paint job. It's a fully working, mechanically sound, earn its keep machine. I received a few negative comments when I took that particular point of view of a restorer who completely destroyed any personal history associated with a WW2 German headphone set by not just repairing them to working order but making improvements (for want of a better word) that resulted in their specification being higher than when they were manufactured. What's the point?
