Long-lasting, if not permanent, effect of trauma indeed. Handled brilliantly, Tara! 🙏🏻❤️ He still had so much adrenaline rushing at the stable door, combined with more shadows-but again, with patience, assurance, and trust, Farouk tapped into his original bravery. This experience reminds of why it’s such a blessing he’s come to and remained with you. 🙏🏻❤️

Thank God the lorry driver was an aware guy. The way some people drive past horses is frightening in itself but had he not stopped and waited for you and Farouk to get past, OMG it's horrific just thinking about it. Poor Farouk, having passed one giant & one little monster (the stick), the stable door had to look like a mouth to him.

Only one thing I question. When you dismounted, should the stirrups not have been run up? Farouk was having difficulty and, had he spooked, his leg could get caught in a flopping stirrup.

Poor baby. In the dog world, this is what we call "trigger stacking". The animal has a scare, and then is susceptible to being afraid of any other small incident thereafter. Once the stress hormones are released which happens very suddenly they cause the animal to be super jumpy after that. I mean, if dogs can be terrified like this, and of course are predators, one only can imagine how a horse who is a prey animal might feel.

His fear of white things probably stems from the horrendous vid of him as a young horse in Arab Emirates, as all the men scaring him and surrounding him were wearing white, lights lots of shadows. The vid you titled 'Why Farouk is so Reactivate' He's come so far and relaxed soooo much, but obviously the lorry markings/shadows triggered something in his memory . Lorry driver was brilliant and you did well dealing with his trauma re his stable.

Walk on and gallop past! God bless this beautiful horse he is the loveliest horse. Well done Tara staying with his very tight spin!❤ No horse is ever 100% all the time but Farouk is a real chsmpion he always tries his best. God bless you Tara and Rens for being so kind and loving to this horse. IMO in his past Farouk has been punished by strict training practices that DO NOT suit all horses. These harsh practices have led to his losing trust with his rider and himself in certain situations. BTW I owned an Arabian mare who was a nightmare with puddles. I believe because she would enter and walk through water that it was the shadows in the water that freaked her especially when facing the puddle or whatever. If we had to walk alongside water I turned her head away. Many thanks for your videos which highlight your excellent training methods using kindness and sensitive aids.

It was a very large vehicle for such a small lane. I was so sad to see him so upset and frightened, couldn’t even manage to get through his stable door, you were so good with him Tara, staying on board, getting him to past and understanding that at the end he was not being difficult but truly traumatised and in shock. You couldn’t really trust anyone else with him, they might think he was being naughty on purpose but he so isn’t and he needs your patience and understanding. If Apollo had seen him planted outside his stable he would have shouted some encouragement like it’s OK old chap you are safe now, get inside your stable and calm down, you look a right ninny planted out there, come on there is nothing to fear I have personally check out all the stables.

What an understanding lorry driver. It could so easily have gone dreadfully wrong had he not realised the situation, killed his engine and waited for you to be safe. Aw bless Farouk, that really scared him. Thank God he is with you. You have such a kind, patient nature with him. I have a little Shih Tzu who is a rescue. She was handed into a rescue less than 2 years old having been passed from pillar to post.she came to me on foster and I very quickly discovered she had been picked up and shaken and possibly thrown. She used to cry into my chest when I held her and comforted her and was terrified by any sudden movement. I couldn’t let her go on somewhere else as she was accepted lovingly by my other two shih tzu at the time and had settled with us. Her situation had hit me in the solar plexus so I decided to adopt her. She is thirteen now and even though she has had only love and care from me, she will run from any sudden movement or loud noise. She also cries under her breath if she is picked up although she trusts us to do it now. I love her with all my heart but I totally agree with you Tara whatever is done to them in those formative early years can scar them for life.❤❤
