You and Robbie Strike inspired me to do FTA (Ku only for now) as a supplement to my OTA TV. FINALLY got it working yesterday on 97W and 101 W, already impressed, feels good to catch signals from space! Interesting channels... Fits in well with my Ham hobby as well. A used 36" Hughesnet dish works great. Thanks!

Another clear, concise walk through, actually shines a light on a whole new world.....And then there is the best bit, Dallas rife asks ' is it worth the bother'? You reply back with an answer, that'll make anyone, want to rush out and do an install. Imagine a news feed, unscripted....lmagine no more.

Thanks for another good video! I used to do this type of stuff back in Australia in the 90s. It was pretty cool. Only KU band though, no C band.

AJ, yeah Buddy! Thanks for the video. I'm just starting to get very interested in being able to help others with cable cutting.

You got it down, Hope I can find a satellite quick like that, some people might think this is the down side to playing around with ku & c band free sat. You actually have to know how it all works And there is nobody going to help line it up . I know I had good luck in the early 1990's, hooking my brand new 10 ft c band . But I paid about 650 dollars for dish and mount the receiver and descrambler and mover I had to buy seperate. Using a used 7/1/2 ft. I got for 50 dollars off ebay Updating to digital and using used stuff isn't as easy. Of coarse , I'm older now by 30+ years .

Lol, InfoWars. :) I got hooked on playing around with FTA after watching your part 1 video. I have that exact same dish. Unfortunately, just yesterday CBS removed a lot of their news feeds from Galaxy 16 Ku. Seems like that is the trend, many stations are migrating to IP based transmissions.

Not fer nuthin': But when I bury a pole in concrete, I just bury the bucket with the concrete in it. Buckets are cheap, and it makes it a hell of a lot easier later, if you want to move it. Keeps your concrete nice and centered, as well.

Neat shrewd install and dish. I'd run the cable up to the nearby house instead of burying it. Shorter run, and it will last longer.

Really enjoy your videos! I am going to place a pole for my KU Band dish. I cannot seem to locate a Declination Meter. Will have the motor so having things plumb is important. Does not seem to be available on Amazon or Ebay. Where did you purchase yours? Thanks, Steve

Lowes or home depot will have them they are for setting posts for fences and such.

So what do you pic up or hook it to ? A tv ? Is it tv stations ? I’ve never heard or seen any of this , very interesting
@FarpointFarms4 жыл бұрын
So these things hook to a receiver box and they can output both HDMI and regular A/V out. On the TV side, they are like the wild west of TV. You can fond over 100 full time TV stations up there, but they are channels you won't find anywhere else. 95% of those channels are foreign. Some are religious, while others are general stations. There are maybe a dozen english full time stations from stateside, and these are always interesting. Flip over to the radio side, and this setup gets nearly 500 channels. A lot of master feeds for channels and a lot of full time radio stations that broadcast via KU band as well. Then there are also these "Wild feeds" These are where the real fun is. Any time you see a "Live on the spot" report, those folks have been standing there for an hour waiting for their 1 minute update. For that hour, you can watch the real story unfold, catch the unedited version of what is going on, and in many instances get the reporters own thoughts instead of what is on the teleprompter. Its really cool. And that is just on KU band. Move up to a larger C-band dish and the tv stations blow up to around 500, and the radio stations go up to over 2500! Those numbers are not including those wild feeds! Much like anything radio, a lot of the fun is finding those weak signals and tracking down those strange live feeds. It's way more fun than regular scripted TV by far.

If it's a very cloudy day, does that significantly affect signal strength and quality?

Cloudy days do not affect it only bad storms. Light rain is fine for quality

Probably around $200 for a starter. The motors are about around $100 Check out the shop at www.FreeSatelliteTV.net for prices!
@FarpointFarms4 жыл бұрын
Yup. I paid a little over $100 for the dish, and about $35.00 for the receiver. Add in the pole, the wiring, and the concrete, and I'd bet it was right at $200. I have picked up a dish mover since I shot this video and it was just over $100. It works great!

Excuse me, i have a question, do i need some permissions to chase some satelites with my own dish? I mean FTA, Its legal or ilegal to do those pointers? Im fraid bc my neighbors are gonna report me , if they see me doing that.
@FarpointFarms Жыл бұрын
Not at all! These and the larger C-band dishes are 100% legal to own and use. FTA signals are just that "Free To Air" nothing illegal about watching any of it. It's a cool hobby!
@felixjunior9369 Жыл бұрын
Oh thank you very much, i was worried about it, bc i use to doing that for hobby, but i was afraid bc the gossip neighbors. Everytime i do something strange in my yard, they record me or probably they could call to the police. I need to make sure everything legal. And i have V8 finder volor yellow like yours too.

Everytime i try to catch Amazonas satelite, i only catch Echostar 16 i mean, 61.5 Echostar 16. But not Amazonas. I use and dish with 75 cm of diameter. Do i need that one or other small one. Sorry i do many questions.
