Back in the day I was the first female ice cream scooper for Farrell's. Management was convinced that I didn't have the upper body strength for it. I told him I could scoop the men any day of the week. It wasn't until after I out scooped them that I let them know that they hired the 1st. female Wildland Firefighter in the state of California. There was a Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Fremont back in the 70's to 80's. Farrell's was the best ice cream parlor ever! Remember when somebody ordered The Zoo? They would put that giant serving bowl on a stretcher and two guys would carry it and run around with it inside the restaurant while sirens and lights are going off! They had a banana split called The Pig's Trough, I had that one time and won a ribbon! My favorite was the Hot Fudge Sundae! Not only did they have great ice cream sundaes but also burgers and fries and other items. They also had the gift shop with all sorts of candy and jawbreakers the size of a softball! Farrell's was an absolute fun place to go anytime! After a game, a date, a birthday or after church! I could go for a Hot Fudge Sundae right now!

Thank you for filming and sharing this! 🤍 I was a server who transferred from the Brea location to help open Buena Park Farrell’s & ended up working here for several years after. I met some lifelong friends amongst my BP Farrells’ fam who helped me get through the trenches & some tough shifts. I graduated college, got married, & found out I was expecting my first baby all while working here. I served all throughout my pregnancy and gave birth to a baby girl who now has a love for music, specifically 50’s rockabilly (my guess is the amount of times we had to sing the rockin robin bday song 😅) There were SO many memories created while working here & I had no idea they were going to demo this year. Thanks to you, I have an opportunity to reminisce & now show BOTH of my children a bit of the past and where mommy used to pre-shift outside that back door by the smelly trash, being triple-sat with no silverware available, constantly learning and singing a million different bday songs, hide from having to run zoos, joining a birthday train while trying to make sure my table’s ice cream didn’t melt, trying my best to fill in on drums when we didn’t have someone on shift who had beat, & having the opportunity to bring a beautiful smile to complete strangers every shift. For old times sake, “Guys gals and all my Farrells’ pals look this way I’ve got something important to say…today we say goodbye to a building that will always hold a lifetime of memories..join with me if you know it- na na na na, na na na na hey hey hey..goodbye!!” ❤️🙏

When Farrell's came back after being gone for a long time, I worked on the kitchen equipment and set the HVAC up for the health department reports. I was fortunate enough to be able to take my family to a "Soft Opening" where everyone received a dinner and ice cream desert. I really liked the food and was hoping that they could keep it going. We all loved going to Farrell's as kids, but the nostalgia was not enough. I believe they expanded too quickly, and the revenues was not enough to maintain the operation. I drive past the Riverside location several times and feel bad that it could not keep going. This BP location is only a couple of miles from my home....
