I completely agree with what Faisal bhai said, I’ve owned 2nd gen vtec plus city and 3rd gen city and now a 2020 jazz. They make such brilliant cars what I don’t know why they are not able to make good decisions For our market. There’s no other budget car company which gives such a brilliant steering Feel and that vtec enjoy joy. I’m really hoping they don’t mess up the upcoming elevate suv in terms of pricing or inadequate feature list. Honda makes really good cars it’s just they don’t know how to sell them. I hope they won’t end in the situation where Ford Chevrolet Mitsubishi ended.

I think main problem is the profitability. Indian market is quite different and price sensitive so making cars specific to it seeks extra investment. Moreover weird taxation rules makes it near impossible to sold international models in india at reasonable price. So how did Hyundai and kia able to cracked it? well they do cost cuttings in platform itself to keep price in check.

The only thing Kia lacks is ncap rating, other than that Kia has destroyed Honda in every aspect. Seltos/creta is as refined as any other Japanese car in Indian market and offers more features than other Japanese car. Honda and Kia both make their cars in india. The problem is Honda doesn't know how to price their vehicles be it 2 wheeler or cars. Honda premium 2 wheeler segment is also dying with its cars because Honda thinks they are kings of the industry and they think customers will come begging for them. Price hike of Honda amaze diesel (their cheapest and practical offering) was the biggest blunder Honda has done. Also what's stopping Honda from putting amaze engine in an suv and selling in india?

Good video and well explained. It's the very similar situation here in South Africa with Honda. Sales have fallen flat, and there's not much excitement for the brand. With the rapid rise of Chinese brands in our market too, they're pushed further down the bottom. It wouldn't surprise me if they shut down operations in South Africa....

In 5th Gen Honda CITY they were the first to offer ESP,VSA,4 airbags, tpms, Connected car tech(5 yr subscription),hill hold, brake assist,AUTO AC, touchscreen etc all good to have and must have features from base variant itself and at that time no manufacturer was offering these safety features from base variant Now in 2023 some are offering this in safety features from base variant Also They r offering Honda sensing ADAS etc features from 2nd base variant of 5th Gen City..Again they r the first to offer it..Their products are expensive than the competition because they dont have 10-20 variants to offer..they just have 3-4 variants max..and all gets all features standard..So If they want to be cost competitive then they should launch 10-20 variants of their upcoming car where base variant will feel like empty box with no touchscreen, auto ac,no alloys nothing... Just like Hyundai do with their cars like Creta,Venue,Verna etc which gets nothing in base variants Also Koreans are cutting cost on safety which adds most of the cost of manufacturing where Honda isn't so offering Safety, Features,Value for money isn't possible plus heavy taxes are the special add on in which City hybrid being most fuel efficient have to pay 43% of taxes same as normal petrol cars

Perfect analysis.. most adamant marketing approach !! Honda wants to make car n customer buy as it is .. doesn’t even want to compete or keep up with the rivals !! No hatchbacks .. SUVs are not launched .. just one sedan .. too lil too late .. why Indian market is not considered a potential place for sales. Totally agree with this .. Honda is slowly moving out of space which it created when there were no rivals .. hope it doesn’t move out like ford from India

About the City hatchback, I think it could have worked if they decided to market it as an Estate/Wagon variant of the City (kinda like how Octavia has an Octavia Combi variant in EU). It may not be a "true" wagon but if cars like Creta and Brezza are sold as SUVs and can generate big sales why not this right? I think it could also spawn a new segment for C-hatchbacks for our markets which could potentially get the global spec cars like the VW Golf, Renault Megane and maybe even the Civic and Corolla hatchbacks.

Things HONDA should do: 1- Bring Honda city rs 1.0 L with manual option to India. 2- Make the current 1.5 L city turbocharged so it can smoke all it’s rivals. 3- Ditch the sluggish CVT gearbox and instead try DCT or other options 4- Make the cars more sporty especially city by putting bigger wheels and tyres. 5- Good infotainment system 6- Bring a good ,capable , solid, powerful SUV . 7- Think twice before putting the price tag. 8- Make the cars more solid and improve the overall quality of the cars. 9- Read this comment.

This really pains my heart being a jazz owner once honda feedback team had called me i told them why thier cars have such a boring colors at that time suzuki brezza dual tone was wrecking havoc in the market , that time i also told them that honda needs more mean muscular looking SUV's and if honda wants to enter into the luxury market they should not discontinue the new gen. Civic and accord which are one the most sexiest cars i have seen in the market but damn honda just doesn't listens ... Honda cars are by far the most spacious cars if they try just a little more they can bring back thier dominance in the market

Atleast why can't they reduce the price of Indian models like Wrv for the low powered engine with no mileage .. I had planned to buy a wrv in 2018 and I was stunned to know that the full option diesel had keyless entry, cruise control and push start stop button but not in the full option petrol! What logic is that?! And again in the latest civic a CVT in petrol and manual in diesel!? Who takes decisions in Honda?! And moreover who approves of it?!

We can't let go a significant brand slowly like this otherwise, we'll be only left with soulless and rebadged japanese brands which just rush behind sales. Its good that sales isn't the only / main aim of Honda unlike other brands but, they should be global, unbiased and customer sensetive if they want to bring out the real them, like they are in the USA. I will tell you the problem of Honda in a nutshell, they neither targeted the enthusiast market nor they targeted the common man market. In terms of enthusiast market they never launched an international market engine, neither a JDM nor a USDM. All the engines they launched in India never matched the international standards and were specific to india only! .. probably except the Accord ( 2003 to 2007 ) which is arguably a good engine as per honda standards and probably very good in terms of indian market but its still not the best one considering enthusiasts . They never launched a civic si ( trust me I know friends who were not car guys and loved the civic si or equivalent available in US/ EU ). Coming to common man in India who requires a car with value for money , even there they failed or were too late to market. Overall even though I crave for honda being a petrol head I am still so disappointed with them for the reasons as an enthusiast . By the way I have always owned a Honda ( 2002 city VTEC - i still miss it so much and i wish so much it came with a DOHC 1.6 VTEC instead of a shitty detuned 1.5 SOHC VTEC :( , then I still own an accord 2.4 2007 -- it speaks of QDR what you spoke about to some extent but again still not the best , I wish it came with a K20A series engine :( and got an amaze diesel CVT for my father . I was forced to go for Maruti suzuki XL6 recently for a 7 seater due to family requirements because honda never had anything on offer ,,what a shame ... i mean wtf literally,...

Don't know why Honda not even considering turbo engines for indian market..If cost was the reason then vw wouldn't launched their tsi engines in india.. We can't forget that Honda launched City with Proper 1.5 VTEC, Accord V6 etc which was a rocket then realised that indians want mileage resulting VTEC to i-VTEC.. They should consider 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC turbos for India but I think they aren't considering because of mainly four reasons: 1. Very less sales volume, less profit 2. They r treating indian market as 3rd grade which they actually doing by not launching good cars like HRV, Civic,Crv,Brv etc 3. Reliability issues because of india's poor fuel quality and they don't want to spoil their name in Reliability 4. They want to focus on Hybrids instead of turbos as turbo engines delivers less fuel efficiency and hybrids delivers the most and indians want fuel efficiency that's why... I think honda makes one of the best engines worldwide and known for their reliability also...Last year's F1 race says it all.. Also They should launch more products to India like CBU,CKD Civic,HRV,Crv etc Their Upcoming ELEVATE SUV will be do or die situation for them so they should launch it at aggressive price not honda premium and should improve mistakes they have done in the past

Imo Problem lies in localisation. The difficulty to find local vendors we can supply high quality parts at reasonable rate that too within a tight timeframe.

Honda launched the VTEC engine with the 2nd gen City facelift but wasn't standard across all the models. It was sold along with iDSI engine as well.

While stats say honda’s revenue around the world has grown by10.5% , which is huge. Only in few markets like India they are lagging behind.

Let cover few things which was not covered much 1. WRV was selling at 18L only model when Ford launched eco sports. For 6L starting 2. Amaze 2nd gen was unfinished car meaning it lacked basic fitting

Honda is like India back in 1980s . Yes I'm right .. Coz like honda India was too sceptical to go global when we had ample time and opportunity knocking but our lawmakers decided to shut the doors and gave us only one option in all consumer products.. Ambassadors, doordarshan, chawanprash, dettol, lifebouy, govt jobs, and what not just monotonous life. While china grabbed the chance like hyundai and skyrocketed ahead. 😊

It's not just in India, even in the UAE here, they seem very less interested. Rarely launching cars.

Owning a 4th gen cvt City model 2017. Performs like a charm. Not a single complaint (info system gps is outdated) on performance. Sexy looks (white). Personally speaking, my family loves the car for its smoothness & comfort. The Vtec engine takes care of the rest. Very good service center (Hyderabad). Yes, how one maintains ir treats a car is also very important, even a bicycle! Just a point. Thank you.

They are still good at what they do for certain use cases. But the problem is that they have no idea what "value for money" is, understandably so because they accidentally made a value for money product in the past and they are struggling to live upto it.

Much required video. Hope Honda watches and reads these comments. been driving Honda for quite a while and indian customers genuinely feel like an afterthought. bought the 5th Gen City after also owning the 3rd gen for a decade now. but this probably will be the end of my journey with Honda unless they launch some seriously interesting models.

Honda is a perfect example of a manufacturer who isn't at all interested in understanding Indian consumer needs.. results are clear as day...on the other hand look at a new entrant in Indian car market like a global brand Kia, they have simply caught the pulse of Indian buyer.. hence, it's very popular in a short time..

I have full confidence in Honda that they are going to screw up upcoming SUV with lack of features, high price and same 1.5 NA engine from Honda city ! It's the same engine which has done it's duty In 3 generations of Honda City ! God damn make some changes Honda ! Indian Market is moving to Automatics , that 1.5 just doesn't gel well with CVT gearbox.

Honda makes great cars with good quality, durability and long lasting cars and no doubt other car companies are also offering cars with good QDR But somewhere or the other Honda is 1 level up in terms of QDR for what I personally think Though they really need to focus on launching more cars to their portfolio with good pricing and more then sufficient features along with being in the momentum of getting new cars for the indian market But Honda really has done a good job in the elevate's pricing though missed out some features but I think it will sale in good numbers for Honda and yes the 5 upcoming cars by Honda Hope they get Honda back in the game We have a Amaze 2018 model ivtec Mt since the last 5.5 yrs And trust me it is the best car of its segment be it safety, driving, fuel efficiency, space and the premiumness Wish good luck for Honda in the upcoming years👍👍
