At the end of November I spent an awesome couple of days up on the Mendocino coast with legendary mycologist Alan Rockefeller. We had a fantastic time find and documenting interesting mushroom species. We talk about all of the different ways we can use technology to get closer and better understand the spectacular world of fungi.
Sean and I are currently working on a documentary, but hope you enjoy this sneak peak of what we have been up to. Let us know if you want to see more KZbin adventure features like this in the comments!

I would say yes it's interesting informative comprehensive and dynamic. I think Alan talks and engages in an amazing meaningdul way through his images and knowledge together so we can learn alot from this partnership with technology and mycology. I think Gordon is very creative and speaks and educates exceptionally well and it's clear to see that you both love the land you explore and you're rooted in the earth - you respect and teach that. I think what would be helpful is learning more about substrates and symbiotic relationships with trees and plants also the medicinal properties of mushrooms. I think this is amazing. I'm well appreciative. Thank you.

The shot you take the camera into the bushes..... man, that just reminds me of myself. Very difficult but fun. You have to be really loving it to do it.

Thank you guys I love both of you for what you’re doing for citizen, science and how helpful you’ve been to people interested in fungus and mushrooms. I’m not afraid to admit it half the time I feel like I’m standing in an airshow because most of what you guys say just goes right over my head I’m a visual person, and I am totally attracted to Alan’s photographs which are just amazing. All that said, I don’t have the equipment nor the money, nor the aptitude in my brain to sequence anything. I find that said, after photographing a mushroom and documenting where I saw it from should I be harvesting the mushrooms that I see and sending them to somebody for sequencing. I’m totally happy to do that. If you guys tell me how to package up mushrooms, how to dry them properly and who to send them off to. I am always thrilled to help out scientists, and in fact I’ve sent lichens from the California coast to India, so that students at the university their could study the lichen that grows here. So if there’s a proper way to harvest dry and send out mushrooms to scientists, I’d love to learn
