Hi, love your videos and balanced take on things. Did you ever let your Lovebirds and Parrotlets mix in a common area for supervised play time? I have both but so far have kept their play times separate but keen to try if not too crazy of an idea. Thanks!

I haven't had Lovebirds around my Parrotlets enough to try. In a supervised common area, I would comfortably try :) LMK how it goes!

thank you for sharing your parrotlets and their aviary. I was wondering if you could share the dimensions of their enclosure or possibly a full view of it. I currently have 2 parrotlets, very bonded to each other in breeding cage with nestbox but have not seen them in nest box, have not observed copulation only preening and regurgitating to each other.

Be patient. Preening and feeding each other means they are on the way --

Love to watch your videos. I’m also thankful for your hooking me up with my two Golden Conures. I’ll post some videos of them eventually. BTW You had mentioned posting some videos on what plants would be good for an aviary.

Yes, I did a plant vid- let me see if I can find it…

Thanks for watching, I appreciate it. How are the Goldens? I’m MAD about Bonnie Rose. I think she’s the only parrot my daughter wants to inherit! Would love to hear about the rescue- I really liked the one I got Henry at, made my heart happy. Looking forward to the videos of your GC -

Hello! First of all, can I just say, I love your channel *so much.* You’re really informative, you stick to the main points and you take care of your birds really well. The thing is, when I first got my parrotlet, I wasn’t that experienced with birds- the previous owner was terrible, and told me to feed him mainly sunflower seeds and large peppers which were too big for him to eat. Like I said, first bird, I just sort of accepted this. When I realised he wasn’t acting as healthy as he should have been I went and did some research. But because I only realised later on, he isn’t really used to eating vegetables and fruits. I’ve recently bought him a fern, as I knew he could eat Boston ferns and other types, but later realised this was a lady fern, or athyrium fern. I hadn’t fed him any yet, luckily, but I’ve since then been trying to search if he can eat the lady fern. No results. No list says wether or not the lady fern is toxic to birds. I wanted to ask what I should do, or if you knew the answer. ( by the way, I do give him a lot of other vegetables now, but it’s still very difficult to get him to eat them as he just drops them on the ground :( ) Thank you *so much* if you’ve gotten this far. I’m not expected a reply, but would be appreciated. :)

How long have you had your Parrotlet? How old is he? I adopted a Yellow-napped Amazon who had been on a seed-based diet and, vet said, was very ill because of it. I turned it around by removing the seeds (though you have to make sure they are eating and not starving themselves) and having pellets available 24/7. I also allowed her to eat scrambled eggs (she IGNORED all veggies as if they didn’t exist). The eggs - I think but experts don’t agree with me, they say eggs have too much cholesterol; I don’t believe eggs affect cholesterol in a negative way - if you do eggs, decide for yourself after you research) - gave her something she liked (she only got a couple beakfulls) and something I consider a complete food, minus vit C. The vet didn’t think she’d live. I got lucky - it’s been 3 years and she now eats carrots and some other veggies, tho eggs are still her favorite. I just kept offering veggies and offering and offering… Be persistent. If you want your Parrotlet to have a friend, get an adult or keep them in separate cages until the young one is 8 to 10 months old (mature). Teach the young one to eat veggies, he/she will likely easily eat veggies and influence your guy. LMK how it goes.

@@ParrotBliss oh, no need to apologize, hope it didn't come too harsh. Will give it another try whit headphones on, a bit later. Meant it as a suggestion. It should usually helps to hear the vocalizations of the species, with spotlights, but I think that there were other species as well.

@@rianmilit Yeah, my challenge is that either it’s loud around the birds but I get birds in the vid or it’s quieter, but I only have 1 on my shoulder… :)

First I need to ask. Was that one of your Caiques in the background? Your parrotlets are such treasures. They are big birds in little bodies. Your name Piranha cracked me up. When my cat was a kitten I named her Gina Piranha! My vet at the time said she sounded like a great Italian actress! Your parrotlets look like so much fun. This was such an entertaining and informative video.💕☺️🙏

You have Caique ears, yes, they are in the birdroom. Yeah, I love my little 'Lets (Parrotlets). Unfortunately, Piranha fit him too well. I tried to give him another name, but it did NOT stick... LOL

*love your videos & your voice and whole vibe. you’re so patient & can tell you truly love your birds. I always look for little signs that show me people truly love their pets and you show all the signs lol (o hate using the term pet) ... I first found your videos when I searched about pionus parrots... :) I’m going to be getting a baby parrot soon. I’m trying to decide between a goffins cockatoo or an eclectus parrot or an Amazon... but my heart is telling me goffins more than anything. I REALLLLY want a golden conure, but they’re hard to find in CA. meh, anyways .. thank you for being such a sweetheart to us & our feathery friends and family! ❤️*

If I have a chance I'll make a video on the birds you are looking at. Please note, Cockatoos are exceedingly loud; Eclectus do not like being handled or cuddled; Amazons are also loud. If I were you, I'd travel and get a Golden. Much easier to live with. Don't get me wrong, in the right circumstances (which would include outdoor space for the loud birds), they can all be incredible companions :) Thank you for posting

@@ParrotBliss *thank you for responding! :] id loooooove to see a video on that! luckily, im in the position to provide outdoor & big spaces for whichever bird I choose, so thats a plus! my dream bird is the golden conure & your relationship with yours makes me want one that much more! ...but theres a bird shop nearby who has baby cockatoos [another dream bird] & TONS of baby amazons! im pretty experienced in terms of wildlife & birds [parrots/conures] so im confident I can provide the proper care & patience, above all! as long as there is an initial bond, I will happily take in a loud parrot. :] your videos are soooo helpful! you really take your time to be specifically detailed & are quite creative with your descriptions & advice! thanks again. :D*

Hi! We're looking to get a friend for our parrotlet, Jojo, because he's now alone the majority of the day due to work schedule changes. He's 2 years old. Can we get him a friend that was hatched this fall or do we need to find someone his age?
@floridamadman593 жыл бұрын
I have an unrelated question, how often do you get bit by your birds and have you ever had a serious bite? I was at the sanctuary the other day and I was interacting with a Cockatoo and afterward it bit me hard enough to draw some blood. Also, I interacted with an African Grey and it too bit me hard. Is this due to the fact that they are starting to know me? I get bit by my Caique from time to time bit since her beak is small it's not too bad. For the most part she is sweet. She is just fully flighted and has her own personality. Do you have any advice for seeking a bird or two to adopt?

“Little bitty easy bird with no personality” lol do you have any experience with cockatiels or budgies? They are FAR from having no personality. Just because they are less territorial and more people friendly doesn’t mean they have no personality, they have just as much personality as all the other parrots..
