Zoe Hong Well yes there is no point when you have a video already on the subject . I have been looking for the video on color theory and as of yet haven't found it so took a detours to this one . I have had big problems to get a proper shin tone . My model was Leyendecker. illustration of clothing advertisements . Brown pink . mixed blue red and black got no where Yellow ocra of course . just couldn't get it work. . White . I had to use white . a ton of white a dot of black several dots of red and a yellow . I tried them all except Naples yellow That's your recommendation . I will get some I didn't know the name but I will look for it

I think cocoa bean on dark brown is too warm pink for the kind of ashy/muted yellow tone of dark brown, washes it out. however, the one you said was too green I feel if paired with a dark yellow brown, like a richer prismacolor dark brown, would be a nice Philippino skin tone or for similar Pacific islander skin looks :) great video, enjoyable, informative, to the point and the demonstrations are just so excellent because they're so detailed and you were really unlazy where a lot of people would demonstrate one sort of combination and talk the rest, you showed them all in their own right and that has immense learning value so thank you! great stuff

Another good way to blend coloured pencil is with odourless mineral spirits, paint thinner or a colourless alcohol marker. Some peeps like baby oil and similar things but I don't like what it does to the paper. OMS or clear markers dry fast and you can layer more colours on top as it removes wax bloom. A skin tone in Prismacolor I like for shadows is Henna (or Caput Mortum in Faber castel polychromos is you're fancy 😜) cheers! Thanks for all your info this was a fabulous video.

Oh yeah, I've shown the rubbing alcohol with a q-tip trick in another video but I should have shown it here too. I'll try the clear marker thing. Thank you, Zoe. Great info and I appreciate the variety of media you used. I went and checked the info on the PITT pens. They are India ink, so they would work a little like the Higgins Ink, add water to dilute. The info said it is waterproof when completely dry.I don't know how long that takes. I read customer reviews that basically said the same. You can also smudge them if you do it immediately. Multi media artists like them because they are waterproof/water resistant on various surfaces.

Was the Winsor and Newton (spelling?) marker water based? Because I think because the main base of the marker is water and you add water to it, it dilutes and spreads the color. It didn't work with the copics because they're alcohol based, so if you used rubbing alcohol then it would spread. Also, amazingly informative video. Thanks, ~Jolie

How does a designer chose which skin colors/ethnicities to use inside a fashion collection? Sometimes I see various ethnicities inside one collection, sometimes not... Should this choose be guided by the customer that the brand is targeting with that collection?
@zoehongteaches4 жыл бұрын
There's a person in charge of casting models for shows and lookbook shoots, etc. Who does this depends on the size and structure of the company. >>Should this choose be guided by the customer that the brand is targeting with that collection? Yes, and in polyethnic countries like the US or UK, if the company chooses only white models, they're signaling that their clothes are for white people, only white people can afford them, only white people fit their aesthetic. In other words, racist, and quite frankly, stupid to miss out on those profits from people who aren't white. You will see, however, there are Black owned businesses that uses only Black models (for example) because they are such a neglected demographic they had to create something specially for themselves. And some countries, like Japan, their companies use only Japanese models because their whole country is so monoethnic.
@lusqua724 жыл бұрын
@@zoehongteaches thanks so much for your thorough reply...I explain this to fashion students when they choose the markers to color the figures skin in their fashion collection project. But these topic is so delicate (and i am not mother language) so i am afraid I could hurt some of them.

It is SUPER pigmented (to the point where it bleeds through most thin paper), doesn't fade (great for archival work), and the amount they give you for the price lasts damn near forever (I do mostly calligraphy so I'm not using a lot of ink per session, but for art will probably go through it faster). Some of their inks are also 'bulletproof' which is their term for water and bleach proof ink that's also safe in fountain pens
