I loveloveloooove that box! Such an amazing find 😍 That candle holder is pretty too - lucky Andrew. I can't wait for the thrift stores here to reopen. On the upside, I just moved to an old farm and I am planning to roam through the abandoned stables for one of my next videos. Let's see if there are witch-worthy finds 😃

I get alot of cool silver pieces at thrift stores 2 & I clean them in a big pan of boiled water lined w aluminum foil & baking soda & it will clean them good without any scrubbing most of the time...of course some pieces have 2 soak longer then others...great video!
@sallycassian44942 жыл бұрын
I believe that is plated silver. Real silver pieces like that, your haul would have cost you like over $1000 easy. There are $5 silver cleaners at the store you can buy, or silver polishing cloths. I use both, cleaners to clean off the tarnish and then the polishing cloths to shine it up.

Whoa, I just got the exact same maple leaf jar from my local thrift store last week!
@SuZenJay3 жыл бұрын
It's a maple syrup jar from Canada 🇨🇦
@maggienbob13042 жыл бұрын
Yes! Maple syrup used to come in those! I had a couple when they were at the grocery stores. Now that syrup comes in plastic.😕 It was a pricey bottle of maple syrup at the time. So, good find!

Fresh lemon juice shines silver really well. But also there are cleaners that are meant for the bottom of your pots and that would clean things really easily and its pretty cheap and you can find that anywhere like walmart or grocery stores

It's nice having fancy new stuff for alters, but tbh I think thrifting is better as it's reducing waste. It's a greener alternative which in itself is an expression of love for the planet.

Great video and nice finds. If you want to replace the hinges on that box that is actually a pretty easy DIY fix. Also if you want to polish something up a bit but are worried about the finish try toothpaste with an old toothbrush. It is a very mild abrasive.
@maggienbob13042 жыл бұрын
If you really like the colour (tarnished patina) on those goblets the way they are, then leave them. If you attempt to polish them, chances are you will find the base, stems, cup are made of different metal-alloys. And each part will be different coloured. ALSO, silver plate never tarnishes (patinas) the same way twice after polishing. My pretty grey tarnished silver turned funky gold a month or 2 after polishing. And what thought was pretty antique brass looking candle holders turned fakey-yellow shiny brass coloured after polishing. Just some personal experiences.

On silver it's called Tarnish 😁 they sell chemicals to strip the tarnish but they smell pretty bad if you have issues with that 💚
