This is a good way of doing it this way if the pump shits out on you. You can disconnect the fuel lines put it back to stock and add a filter back with the ball valve and keep rolling. I don’t like the ideas of pulling the primer out all together.

@thoroughbreddiesel4 жыл бұрын
If you haven’t changed fuel filters on the FASS lately, suspect that first. If not and you are confident of the supply pressure, I would suggest checking the fuel pressure sesnors, low side, close to the fuel filter housing.
@Offroadbro694 жыл бұрын
Thoroughbred Diesel ya I have replaced the filters 3 times now and I just deal with the light because I try and reset it but it’ll just come right back on. So maybe it’s a sensor, are you referring to the sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter delete?

My 2002 LB7 has a CAT filter where the factory filter is, I just had the FASS pump/filter put on it. Can I put this where CAT filter is now? I dont have the water sensor on the bottom of the CAT, Im assuming the previous owner had to remove it to be able to use the CAT filters. What would you recommend I use there?
@victorrader43495 жыл бұрын
or just leave the CAT-1 filter for secondary filtration which can't hurt to have super clean fuel. That filter is I think 2 microns. I'm getting ready to add the FASS and that's what I'm planning to do, even though it is a pain to replace, but as a secondary filter I'm thinking once a year.
@Blue_Collar_Hunter4 жыл бұрын
@@victorrader4349 why would you want to run 2 fuel filters? Wouldn't your Cp3 have to work twice as hard?
@victorrader43494 жыл бұрын
@@Blue_Collar_Hunter not at all with the additional FASS fuel pump. I think the only reason to delete the stock filter is because you have added a fuel pump and filter (in the back). Mechanics and other research on my part says the best way to protect your injectors is with clean fuel and a double system is the best way to do that, in fact with the FASS in the back the best option would be to replace the stock with the CAT 2micron filter up front, unless you're worried about leakage from the adapter, otherwise 2 stacked 5microns can't hurt imo.

Is this a good idea to delete the fuel filter if i run on sunflower oil?
@thoroughbreddiesel4 жыл бұрын
I really can’t advise you on that as I am not knowledgeable in sunflower oil. Removing the filter is decreasing the filtration, this is usually coupled with pumps that we offer that have increased filtration.

@@glyshorts9107 You could remove the black plastic cap from the fuel vacuum test port behind the alternator and depress the Schrader valve down to let air escape until diesel fuel starts coming out while the lift pump is running. When fuel starts spraying out just release the Schrader valve to close it, reinstall plastic cap.

Duramaxdenali the Fass or Airdog systems filters are 2 micron the stock is 6 so the stock filter isn’t going to filter out anything the lift pump filter didn’t get so all it’s doing is causing unnecessary restriction on your lift pump and CP3. Trust me I was you I had the same question till I talked to a local diesel shop that explained it to me.

@@glyshorts9107 it’s a 50gph stock filter. I left Mine intact with my fass lift pump and full delete. With the CP4 I want more filtration. Any benefits to this besides not having to change the filter under the hood? I've got an Airdog on my 2012 LML just trying to see if there is any gain to doing this delete?
@1nickadair9 жыл бұрын
cheaper ( no filter to replace) is one, if you chip your duramax too far the injection pump will pull a vacuum after this filter and your truck will say your filter is bad, and if enough of a vacuum your truck can go into limp. mine did this twice when pulling a trailer. trucks swt up for 650 to 700 hp at the wheels which requires a lot of fuel. Went up a steep hill and was on the throttle for about 2 minutes and truck went limp. checked the code and history and i wanna say my pressures were about 9500 psi instead of the 14000 I think it's supposed to be. numbers could be wrong I just remember it was way low. FASS will supply enough fuel, but the filter will only let so much through no matter what.
@R0gu3Ju5t1c38 жыл бұрын
So you're saying not to throw it into the hotter tunes with a filter delete? I rad mine for about a week in the second highest tune and had no issues at all. As soon as I bumped up to the race tune I got a "change fuel filter" signal. Truck still runs great just wondering what the issue is
@billroach23938 жыл бұрын
I think Nicholas Adair is trying to say that if you're running the hottest tunes you SHOULD delete the stock filter (like they've done in this video) because the stock filter is too restrictive and the CP4 will not be getting enough fuel when you get on the gas big time!! When you bumped it into RACE tune, the filter was too restrictive..... If you want to run RACE tune, do the filter delete (as long as you've already got a FASS or AirDog etc

@thoroughbreddiesel8 жыл бұрын
We have not seen any filters “come apart” during normal operation. A lot of times people will associate a filter failure with something that is wrong with the filters, when many times it is lack of service or contaminated fuel.
