Thank you so much for your very clear explanation, Alison, I couldn’t wait to start a ‘love blanket’ for my eldest daughter, It ttoook me just over a month, in my spare time while watching TV, and I’m thrilled with the result. I made it with a 14ply yarn which was 30% Alpaca, 30% wool and 40% acrylic. I crocheted with a 6.4mm wooden hook. It’s amazingly soft and cuddly and my daughter loves it! This is now my go -to pattern for baby gifts , I needed something easy, repetitive and quick, and this is perfect. Can’t thank you enough! I finished it off with a DC row and a TC to finish. I would send you a photo, but don’t know how!

I agree with all who have said that this is a beautiful pattern. I’m doing it in three colors and changing colors after the fan row so the fans stand out more. However, I wouldn’t say it’s a very fast afghan. Apparently it’s just me, but any pattern where I have to go into the back loop 150 times every other row is going to be fast. Still, it’s going to be a beautiful afghan, so it’s definitely worth it.
