8:06 - 8:17 I KNEW IT!!! All these years since first watching this movie, it always nagged at me that the evo in this movie never sounded like an actual 4G63-T. No matter how many meets I went to, no mater how many exhaust systems I listened to live or on old youtube (circa 2006-2011), it just never added up. But one day I overheard an S2000 flying past, and somehow I was reminded of this moment. I looked up in-car sounds (again on youtube), and there it was. That elusive sound that had aggravated me for so long finally had a name to go with it. I've been right about a few things before; but this.... this puts a smile on my face.

Yes indeed. But somehow ppl must know the ralliart version of the Lancer. It is no longer an EVO nor has the wing, widebody and no turbo. Call it an affordable poormans evo but some how the 06 Lancer had me as if it was an EVO. It had 15inche OZ wheels, Pirelli tires, different front bumper and ralliart badge. I wish one day to own one as my first car but now 3rd.

Thank you so much for this video! The Evo 7 is one of my favourite cars from the F&F series and I think one of the very few that isn't destroyed. My theory on what happened to it in the film is after the whole ordeal is over, both the Evo and Eclipse were returned to the police.

Well done sir, thanks for the additional information. I knew Mitsubishi had helped but nice of them to go the extra mile. Great story telling BTW, the way you read it was spot on...here today, done tomorrow. I remember all the SoCal DSM members getting amped up about the EVO’s release. Ironically ended up working at a Mitsubishi dealership not long after it did come to the states, as many probably remember, you couldn’t test drive it...it was buy it or leave it. Only a few select employees were allowed to move or transport them, but I drove everything else on the lot. 😉

Honestly one of my favorite cars of the series, topped only by Leon's R33. Dunno what it is about the car, it's just so cool looking especially with the blue lights against the green/gold candy paint. Plus the Evo 7 itself is such a crisp design, the bodykit only enhanced the look and honestly it made me use the Evo in many racing games as a kid lol. And of course, I had no idea Lancer tailights were used on an Evo, that's some clever attention to detail you did to pull off that look so well

I love all of the videos Craig, it's a very interesting behind the scenes look that we don't usually get for many movies. One criticism I would like to make is that the fade-to-white transitions are painful to the eyes and make the video very hard to watch. I'm not a video editor or creatively inclined so unfortunately I can't give you any alternative suggestions, but even a simple swipe left/right would work without blinding the viewers

When I first saw this movie, I was 13 years old and since then I fell in love with the Evo. I remember people used to say the Eclipse was better because it came out years earlier and were more familiar with, NOT KNOWING IT HAD THE SAME ENGINE. This was middle school years, we didn't know much about cars, of course. But I was disappointed this 3rd Gen Eclipse didn't keep the 4G engine. I can understand they featured it because it was a new car at the time.

My Evo 7 is still one of my fav cars to drive. The stroked 2.2 4g63 is making only 590 wheel but the torque curve is super flat, full boost at 3200rpm and it pulls great to red line. My 900 wheel EvoX and my 97 Supra making 1170 wheel on E85 are fun to drive and the supra deff pulls the attention but nothing i have ever owned is as fun to drive as the VII. We building a R33 night now that is mine and hubbies. The build is planned to make right at 800 wheel (2.8 RB26) and do so with great reliability and very drivable. We will prolly run a street tune that's about 600 wheel and gonna be really responsive and not peaky at all and for highway pulls a tune that's around 800 wheel and maybe even run a really hot tune with meth injection. Not sure yet on how the tunes will be final but 600 wheel is plenty for daily driving and 800 for hard pulls with a much more peaky less drivable highway pull tune. If it's even close to as fun as the VII i will be in heaven.

I bought a regular 2006 lancer and added an evo spoiler to make it look like an Evo. Lol. I mean it looks like an Evo from the back. It looks so cool. I like it.

Very glad that you fought against the studio using an SRT-4, Craig. That would have been downright embarrassing.

Craig if you don't mind I had a few question. First is what's up with slant neon light on the Evo grille, is it mounting problem or deliberate? Also I remember watching 2F2F bonus DVD and during the behind the scene with cars. They were showing Lancer OZ Rally Edition. Does that car is one of the 4 Lancer you mention?

Fun Fact: Every Evo used the same Engine except for the Evo X. And the Evo X was the only Evo designed in Europe

Thank you for such nice vlog documentaries on one of my most favorite movies in the tuner scenes. I never owned an EVO or drove one but I'm a proud owner of a 3000GT VR4 AWD Twin Turbo and now a 2019 Eclipse Cross daily driver. One day however I might own an EVO X.

I know one of the cars was in San Diego California around 2008 or so. My friend owned a tuning shop there and it was in his shop for months getting it somewhat back to "normal". That shop was called Reese Tuning in Santee, CA where it went from there i have no idea. That car was a mess though... What they do to these cars for a movie is crazy 😎

I don't know why people thought it was an EVO 8, only thing I can think of is that those people just don't know their cars

Stuff N Stuff it’s very similar. Stfu. 7 just looks more base lancer than the 8 does. 8 and 9 are wider and fit larger wheel sizes.

Your points apply and can be said for about 60% of cars so it's a pretty invalid point...
