Here’s a tip I used by accident. Totally forgot I had a monkey on my shoulder. When the thylo came charging at me it was slowed down when the monkey pelted it with poop. It was super helpful because when the thylo turned and started running away with low health it couldn’t run fast enough and I knocked it out.

Thanks for making a good video. It is short, to the point, has all of the information we need, and offers two taming methods with warnings about what can go wrong. It seems like the majority of "tutorials" or "how-to" videos people make for this game are any of the following: - incredibly long - try to inject humor (making up about 25% of the video's time) and talk about themselves or something irrelevant to the video's title - use god mode to demonstrate taming while getting hit a billion times (which is useless for most people) - don't re-record/cut-out footage when they mess up explaining or doing something You don't do any of these things and you explain things thoroughly and quickly so people should value that.

Incredibly long videos on a tutorial is a good thing. It gives the person enough information within detail, and repetition is good. Humor is a key point for an entertainer. How can I tell that this creator is an entertainer? By his "About page." He said "I am just a guy having fun playing games." Neat little tip here, if you pounce from a redwood tree and hit another while holding the grapple button you can jump from tree to tree. Idk if this works on other stuff but I know it works on the redwood trees.

Will never forget taming my first Thylacoleo Springer. I set my mega base up in the Redwood, I honestly never had much of a problem with thylos so I guess I let my guard down. One day as I was flying through the Redwood looking for female Megatherium to tame, I’m suddenly launched off my Argi Fernando and into the mouth of a bright blue thylo. Having been through this twice before(unsuccessfully)I was obviously horrified n thought I was done for but remembered I had my shotgun on me n started shooting it with tranq darts as fast as I could, When she ran off I was honestly gonna hop on Fernando and run but my bones were broke and I was in shock at what had just happened in the span of 30 seconds. she took my hp from 1200 to 40 real. Luckily because my bones were broke I was forced to stay and fight, and eventually w/ a total of around 50 tranqs I took her out(don’t know how many hit tho lol). I didn’t even have any meat on me to tame her bc I wasn’t planning on taming any carnivores. But after a span of 20 minutes give or take I had my first thylo. Sadly she died, but of a Nobel death fighting in The Great War Of The Oasis waged by a wild Giga. RIP Springer, I’m sorry that I always referred to you as a male.

I got a bunch of tips just from the stupid amount of time I have in this game: 1) use wyverns, quetzals or argents to pick them 2) if u don't have them, use a pt to lead it into a trap, or just run on foot 3) on rag u have close to a 18.8% change to get lv 130 or above, so go to the desert spawns for them on the wiki to get easy high levels 4) use snow owl to see them on trees, they have heat vision for a reason 5) Parasaur can be useful to carry if u rlly have trouble seeing ones in trees 6) ragnarok is obv best map, so when your on it quickly get breeding pair of argies, imprint baby and do a fat berry run in the flower field near green ob. you can easily get 30 stacks of narcotics from there, more if you use chem bench 7) if u breed them, leave them climbing on a doorframe so the babies pop out and dont get stuck

I just tamed one yesterday, it almost killed me. I was exploring in Redwoods, trying to lead the thyla, which was on the ground to a rock (i didnt have a trap) wih my tapejara. A swarm of titanomyrma came outta nowhere and i lost all stam, and the thyla killed my tapejara. RIP, tim. But, then i used my longneck rifle, trying to tranq it, and it finally came down, before i only had 80 health left (i have a lot of levels into health, currently have around 440 or so health). I then, because i had no meat, raw or (the best) cooked, i had to kill things, but first i needed protection. I found a lone tek raptor, used my last bola to immobilize it, tranq’d it, got some raw meat from a nearby troodon (i also have a ton of levels into fortitude so it isnt easy for them to knock me out) tamed the raptor, killed a carno with it, and cuz i wanted to go back to my home in south zone 1 as soon as possible, with new tames, i used the prime and remaining raw meat to help tame the thyla. Later, as i was naming my raptor (he hadnt been named yet) my thyla tamed and i named him Gaius, after General Nerva. Then, i tranq’d a ptera (without a bola, one headshot with my backup tranq crossbow), and while i was getting chitin and keratin for the ptera saddle, i tamed a doed as i was trying to find them. After he tamed i killed another doed, got the keratin i needed, used my cryopod on gaius so i could bring him home, as my objective for the mission in the first place was to tame a thyla and bring it back home - then saddled the ptera, and while i was flying to a good crossing point, the worst thing ever, my biggest fear, happened! Another thyla pounced me off of my ptera, but i quickly killed it with my ramshackle sword that i got. Then a titanoboa came out of the vegetation while i whistled my ptera down to me, and that fortitude saved me. I only gained like 5 torpor from the titanoboas bites, and it met the end of my sword, before i finally flew back home, before making a thyla saddle, and taking gaius out for a spin. i still remember that gaius killed tim, may he rest in peace, yet i not only had another tapejara (which was a female, named tina) who i bred with tim earlier, so i had two back up tapejaras, and i also got thyla hook claws from the thyla that pounced me. It was a crazy adventure, and i have not legitimately died yet (bye legitimately died, i mean been killed by a creature or fell to my death) and i keep on having close, near-death experiences in ark. i wouldve looked for the thyla in the trees, but i was so hyped about getting home that i wasnt careful. If i didnt have the health and fortitude, i wouldve mever made it out alive

@@vibra7 I recently just tamed a spino, and got to work on playing through ragnarok. I renamed Tina to Tarazaxai, and tried to tame a spino. I unfortunately lost my only tapejara, (RIP, the happy couple Tim and Tarazaxai), before the spino broke my armor and started torpor running. It came back later after i placed a backup bear trap in the open, then I shot it with my fab pistol to get its attention back, ran across the bear trap, and it got me down to 5 HEALTH. Yet, I still knocked it. I made a sleeping bag there to fast travel back to base to get another flyer, but the only I had was the sh*tty level 10 ptera I got from the redwoods incident. On my way there, while waiting for stam, a carno jumped us and we couldnt get away. I had to abandon him, and as I got to the spino, i got the message that the carno had killed. Then, just right then, the spino tamed up. It took quite a while because i didn’t have any raw meat. (I had to kill a few dodos) no prime, and I couldn’t get fish (the best) because there was piranhas and i didnt wanna risk dying to salmon while trynna get prime fish from the salmon. I tamed a raptor there, and then walked my sorry ass home, in the rain, as the sun went down, with only cloth armor (i crafted some for insulation after i knocked the spino) and a torch keeping me warm. I got revenge on the carno on my way back. I still havent brought my tek raptor home….i forget about him. I wonder how hes doing. I also made a saddle for the spino, and killed 2 alpha raptors, and 1 alpha carno for xp and loot. On ragnarok, a level 30 rex came down to the beach on viking bay, and killed all my tames except my ptera (viking bay is my start for ragnarok, as it has a ready source of argies, raptors, crystal, metal, and obsidian nearby) and after harassing it with pteranodons, boomerangs, and arrows for 2 days, my level 60 ptera that i had transferred killed it. I also tamed my first argy, on ragnarok. I tamed it using high health, a primitive bow, and a boomerang. I just juked it out for 5 mins, shooting with tranqs and throwing boomerangs, and as it torpor-flew away, I hit it with a couple tranqs in the head and he went night-night. I got some meat, as well as prime from the rex, and tamed him up. I named him Talon, but i think i should rename him to Apollo. Also, my first ragnarok micro crisis. A normal day on viking bay’s beaches turned hectic, as in my spyglass, i spotted it… *The dreaded microraptor…* 4 of them, causing havoc on dodos, lystros, and paras. They came down to my beach, and as i went to confront them, another one knocked me off. Soon, i killed 2 of them with my trike, but then, after the final 1 remaining knocked me off of my ptera, it passive fleed away (what micros do is they knock you off ur mount, then they passive flee because they get scared of ur tames. If u have a stego [micros cant knock ppl off of stegos] they should just passive flee).

The easiest way is If you have a quetzal and a friend ... build a tall fence at home base fly near one on a tree and make him come after you, pick him up and fly home have someone waiting with longneck darts I believe around 10 darts will do. Have your friend Knock Him while holding with the quetzal then have plenty of narcotics around and whatever you’re taming him with.

@@samuelmiller5457 Actually depends on the angle, if you are flying up or fast, it will hit the Argentavis, but once you fly straight or down, it is ok. And if you are still afraid, try to pick the cat with Quetzal (if you have one). I used this method several times before seeing this video, just brought the cat to the trap we have next to our base to better and safer taming. :) Also I used to fly around the forest looking for the Thylacoleos for days (I mean real days), because I wanted male and female of high lvl, so it can take a lot of time, if you do it that way (and fog and bad weather, yeah I was rly tired with all that, but worth). Also with this method it is better if the cat is down on the ground (usually hunting something) and not hanging on a tree. I was lucky with that. But yeah this method is still the best imho. Same we did with Terror bird, Wolf, Daeodon etc. :)

Zachary Robinson It's going to depend largely on the level of the Thyla and if you have a crossbow or bow. With a crossbow the most you should need is 80, but I'd recommend carrying more, at least 100 preferably more. I wouldn't recommend a bow at all.

You can use a beelzebufo frog I tried it, I jumped on a cliff and the thylacoleo chased and it couldn't reach me and my frog and I started shooting with tranq arrows. Now I have a level16 male Thylacoleo.

So far, they have appeared on all of the official maps.EDIT: Except Aberration, I forgot that map existed. They are fairly rare and can be found in redwood forests. If you want something more specific check the link and instructions below ark.gamepedia.com/Resource_Map#Creature_Spawn_Maps Pick the map you're on. When the map page loads, pick the creature you want to find from the drop-down. Green is more common; red is more rare.

Quick story about what happened to me. I just got a pteranodon and a saddle for it and took it for a ride to see many things. There was a spino that attacked this mini bronto creature and won easily than a level 8 tek Rex vs 2 brontos which it lost. I then saw an alpha raptor vs 2 trikes and soon later a carbonemys. I didn’t see the winner but the trikes were badly damaged and the alpha raptor looked barely hurt. Finally I saw a video where a guy went to get an argentavis on the mountains. So I tried to do the same and while I was going through the redwoods I was attacks by a thylacoleo. I didn’t see it because it was so dark but I swung my sword a few times and soon got the death message. You died to a thylacoleo. Lost a few metal tools, my armour but most importantly… my damn pteranodon saddle since I couldn’t find any chitin anywhere for it!

Holy shit the first time I tamed 1 I ran in there with I few tranq arrows primitive crossbow a 4x1 trap with a roof also I ran back and forth from herb island to the redwood with about four meats in the thyla and about narcos I some how managed to tame it

They would be in the redwood forest in the middle of the map. The area that is just north of the swamp. 60° lat 40° long.

They will spawn attached to the redwood trees, so pretty much anywhere in the redwood forest is eligible for a spawn. They're not suppose to be too rare, but they aren't exactly common. If I had to guess I'd say there are probably at least 3-4 at any given time, but they are tricky to spot because their colorations tend to blend into the tree trunks. Just keep your eyes up, they typically stick to the trees a little over halfway between the ground and the lowest branches. Good Luck with finding one!
