2016 Monster 1200R - Dyno Run - Termignoni Slip-on Cans

Our big Ducati gets a go on our comparison dynamometer at JHS Racing. We take a quick look at its curves versus the 'S' and just for curiosity's sake a couple of overlay graphs with rival bikes, the MT-10 and Tuono 1100. It's moderately interesting.

My stock 1200 from 2014 has 129.4 hp and 118nm at around 9000rpm. Strange. I guessed the R model had got way more power.

I thoght the numbers were impressive until I saw that the torque was in newton meters.... only 81.67 ftlbs peak..... and at revs that virtually no one will use.... except on a motorway/freeway.... not very impressive really but is is just as good as the over-venerated Diavel and at a smaller cost.....

I am surprised at such a high power loss from 160 HP to 136HP at the rear . a little dissapointing.

160 is claimed power which is always at the crank - this is a rear wheel figure. Rule of thumb when converting crank to wheel figures is around a 15% reduction. Do the maths, and this is nearly bang on correct.

That is one bulky and visually heavy exhaust system.........that's why i hate the shotgun(stacked) setup. Otherwise, good numbers, good sound.

Alejandro Reutor easily 260 km/h . i've the no "S" version (135hp) and i reach easily 250 kmh..

I’ve taken my 2014 regular 1200 to 156 MPH which was the top speed

@@triplelucas9343 My 2015 S model has hit 165mph three times. [gps confirmed] It had a full race exhaust and was all tuned up though.

The ducati declare 160 hp at crankshaft... it lost 24 hp at the wheel......

There dyno is way off, it makes no sense at all. A 2016 Monster 1200s is rated at 145 HP and gets in the low 130's on a correct good Dyno. Multiple publications and independent dyno on many forums show this. A 1200r is actually in the mid to high 140's HP on a dyno.
