Thawn is such a clever but vain villain. In reality barry isn't playing thawne at all here, Thawne is manipulating barry so that barry is gonna find this speedster and meet future innocent eobard thawne, and barry then creates reverse flash like reverse flash created barry. Its a self fulfilling prophecy, one cannot exist without the other because they both made each other.
