2:39 He gives up mustering Saruman (and gaining an extra dice) on turn 2 so he attack Lorien; but he doesn't finish them off immediately. I think if you're going to sit sieging, you might as well summon Saruman and get the extra dice on the turns you're sitting and sieging. Also the Voice of Saruman is great at getting Isengard into play quickly, and he already mustered them on turn 1.

This is why I get paranoid leaving strongholds empty. One open feels bad (just 1 reguar defender forces a second action to attack it) and two :(

@@Dlannin05 Most games take hours. :) A turn 2 victory should basically be impossible, but it was a very strange situation where Shadow used the card Shadows Gather to move the army from Dol Guldur to Moria, then marched that combined army to attack Rivendell, leaving both Moria and Dol Guldur entirely open. It made sense in some ways, since the fellowship was still in Rivendell, and that made it harder for the fellowship to move safely. But, the attack on Rivendell put the Elves to war, and then FP was able to move from Lorien into Dimrill Dale, and then split that small elven army into two parts, capturing Moria and Dol Duldur entirely undefended. Thus, FP won with a FP Military Victory (FPMV) on turn 2!

@@WarOfTheRingChamp Thank you, that makes sense. I don't know entirely how balanced the game is, but I've only played twice so far as Shadow both times and barely beat my friend who is much more experienced. His girlfriend played 9 of her 10 games as FP and lost all 9, so our small group's winrate over 12 games is 11-1 for Shadow and 1-11 for FP. Obviously we aren't experts though.

@@Dlannin05 It's possible that you're playing some rules wrong if things are that unbalanced, but maybe the sample size is too small and the luck will balance out. It's also possible that FP could improve some strategies. Hi Ira, short feedback: in the older videos we could see the numbers army strength better. I asked about this before: The Fellowship icon is sometimes not so visible. Maybe you can increase the its size by increasing the jpg in the client folder (not sure if that works)

Yes, I will try to take a look at that at some point!! You like the smaller font for the army sizes in the old videos? I find that's impossible to read on my phone, and I like being able to watch videos on my phone.

Massive blunder just walking out of Moria. I've taken undefended strongholds that way before from the shadow player - they don't make that mistake twice.

I don’t think this victory should have been possible. How did you move an elven army across the Northern nation’s borders if they themselves weren’t at war yet? That would be a rule violation as I understand it.

Agreed - A free people's army cannot move into an non-biligerant nation unless it's a retreat (or card effect). There's further clarification that the retreated army must leave the non-biligerant nation if they are moved again.

The restrictions only apply to the moving army - if the nation that army belongs to is "At War" they may cross any other nation's borders; the nation that you they are moving into doesn't need to be at war. If that were the case the shadow player would basically be unable to attack the free peoples' nations. These restrictions apply to free peoples and shadow armies equally.
