Excellent! That is super cool! I have used that tool for cutting meshes before, but I never would have thought of using it for prototyping a level. Also, thank you for not playing music while teaching. If people want to listen to music, they can put on their own.

Since no tutorial wants to mention it, if you do not see "Modeling Mode" in the drop down menu, it's because the plugin needs to be turned on. In the engine window, click Edit > Plugins > then search for "Static Mesh Editor Modeling Mode" and tick the check box next to it. Restart UE5 and the "Modeling Mode" option will show in the drop down menu. ffs

@@unfgames it wasn't enabled for me on 5.1.1. Maybe because I downloaded the engine with no additional add-ons such as the starter content and the downloaded the starter content afterwards.

Efficient!It can be put into multiple uses.With lumen and megascan library,this can develop a very quick level concept.And I think once the block out is confirmed,the mesh can be very helpful for creating detailed assets.

@0:56 after creating a structure/block, when we again go to CubeGrid mode, then 'Pull' (Q) is not working many a times, no hole is getting creating! Pls guide, what can the issue be? 'Push' (E) is working but Pull (Q) is not! Grid is moving backwards after pressing Q repeatedly, but not resulting in any hole!

The voxel plugin is supposed to do that but given UE5's recent foray into actual modelling, I wouldn't be surprised if they implement this kind of feature for landscapes in the near future

I keep hearing never to use geometry for final levels everywhere.. but why? Its so much easier to use than modeling programs if you get good at it and doesnt geometry export as a static mesh anyway..? Detailed levels I can understand but what is so bad about using geometry as a form of basic modeling?

Lol im testing UE5.3 on a gaming laptop with a GTX 1060 and i7, without updating graphics drivers. It seems to run (laggy in Editor on first load, first play). But exported Demos seem to work without the load lag. The only problem is I havent enabled lumen. And I get 3 thread errors everytime I load any 5.3 project (I think I didnt get them on 5.1).

UE used to have such good BSP tools, and then they were basically abandoned. This is just ok... but it pales in regards to tools like Trenchbroom, which does basically the same thing, but better in pretty much every way.

Nah. The more I use the modeling tools, the more I realize it does everything bsp did, faster easier more optimal, outputs as static mesh and you can use these to edit static meshes as well

@@austinbryan6759 Modeling tools aren't really good for what BSP was for, which is quickly blocking out and iterating on level layouts. It's not for final detail work. That's why they added this, and other engines like Unity have addons like Probuilder. Different tools for different purposes.

@@Razumen Again, prototyping a level is even easier using the new system than BSP, plus it can edit static meshes. Really try it and learn it it's so much more than BSP ever was. And you can also model with it, there's no messy subtractive brushes, which made was a big pain if you wanted to move a wall with doors and windows because you have to get all the subtractive brushes. I've modeling a bridge now in ue5, and prototyping levels faster than ever before. Watch tutorials, learn all the tools. It's way more features to do way more. You're hating it just because you're not familiar with it.
