I had been to the Agraharam - Konerirajapuram after a gap of 15 years to shoot for KARMA.
'KARMA' is a series that depicts the Agraharam way of life of the thirties. Shot in actual location at Konerirajapuram Agraharam situated 22 kms from Kumbakonam.
This is a fictional story that captures the life and times of Somasekara Ganapadigal and his joint family.
How the family disintegrates because of the judgement given by Somasekara Ganapadigal against a priest Sankara Sastrigal forms the crux of the story.

Great carnatic vocalist Sri Konerirajpuram Vaidyanathan iyer belonged to this village.His period 1878 to 1921.I am his brother's grand son in chennai.This year happens to be his death centiniary.Unfortunately we have lost touch with his family members.I am attracted by the very name Konerirajapuram.

I used to mention this serial and cho sir's enge bramanan as model for tele serials. On those days we were watching such good serials. When it got stopped abruptly we were worried and curious. அடியேன் அக்ராஹாரக் காற்றை சுவாசித்தவன்! சில வருடங்கள் நன்னிலம் நல்லமாங்குடி "அக்ராஹாரத்தில்" இருந்தேன். சில வருடங்கள் நாகப்பட்டினம் (நாகைப்பட்டினம்) வெளிப்பாளையம் "மடவளாகத்தில்" இருந்தேன். எங்க பூர்வீகம் "கும்மோணம்" (கும்பகோணம் என்று அக்ரஹாரத்தில் சொல்ல மாட்டா!) தான்!

Actually this Agraharam is just ok.. The Agraharam in which my periamma lived in Tiruvisanallur (6 kms from Kumbakonam) was much more beautiful than this....superb vistas covered with tall coconut and arcanut trees. Beautiful mango trees and banana trees lined up along the banks of cauvery.... absolutely awesome.👍 This konerirajapuram Agraharam is devoid of trees or greenery....it is good but not that beautiful.

Agrahara people should object & the govt should also not provide site to a Christian or a Muslim to build the building in அக்ரஹாரம் or near temple. Here in city money & political power allow these things

Ii belong to a village near Koberirajapuram.(1.0Km). My Periappa who passed away in 1994 at 81 years, would tell us that in 1920s people from Koberirajapuram would come to our village Kulam for bath and Sandhyavandanam. I went in 2000 and met a person who had come permanently from Mumbai(Rich Landowner). His son was in Singapore and he told that he has advised his son to not to come back. He said:""we are doing(leaving the village) what your forefathers did 80 years ago"". My village is: Paravakkarai. Sadly, when I visited the temple, there was no water for Abhishekam. The villagers were very rich but never was bothered about this. Eventually a pump set was arranged and Kumbabhishekam conducted by a family in Agraharam(. As per tradition ALL people of various communities were fed on that day in their house). May sri Ishwaran bless that family. Padal Petra sthalam by Sri Appar Peruman. This village was called Nallur in Pathigam.

Audio may be louder. Feel very difficult to follow each dialogue. Also background music is with over sound and hinders hearing. The relationship between characters may be explained clearly. How many sons and daughters Somasekaara ganapadigall has? What are their names? How is the order of the sons? What are names of the sons and their wives? I am not able to understand? Otherwise I am watching this serial with very much interest. Artists are living in the characters. Congratulations to you as well as the artists. Of ourse to the technicians.
