There are so many comments on other channels like this where people say “fasting isn’t for me because my blood sugar went up!” And they quit fasting and continue their high sugar/T2D lifestyle. They think the blood sugar increase bad is bad and it must mean fasting is making them worse. Well…we know differently. I know people personally who have done this.

I finally broke through! I went through the higher glucose levels at first. It took me about a month to get bs to go down and ketones to go up enough to see higher ketosis and to lose lbs. I remembered Dr Mindy saying don’t give up and just keep fasting. Also, I was still not COMPLETELY off of sugar. Once I got in my head that even the smallest amount of sugar was hindering progress the switch flipped! Just like she said it would! I also increased my fasting period to 36 hrs once a week(18:6 normally) and even stretched to 42 and that was like a rocket went off!! 🚀 soooo in longer fasts I’ll lose about 3lbs and then 1 lb everyday if I don’t eat sugar or carbs and get protein and fiber. 🎉 it’s blowing my mind! But I had a ton of stored sugar from years of eating like crap! You just have to change your mind about food! Prayers for you all and thank you Dr Mindy! I want you to know I’ve been telling all of my girlfriends about you and sending out videos to anyone who will watch! Your mission is my mission here in Amarillo, Texas!! Love you!!❤

I've been on a low carb diet for about 6 months, and had been doing a 16:8 intermittent fasting regimen. My blood glucose was averaging around 170 each day. Then about 3 weeks ago I decided to do a 40-hour fast 2x a week. On the first day that I did a 40-hour fast, I tested 5 times during the day from morning to night, and my numbers ranged from a low of 202 to a high of 267! And for the following 2 days, the numbers were also mostly above 200. I was very frustrated, confused, and discouraged. Then, all of a sudden, I woke up on day 4 with a fasting glucose of 126! Then I did another 40-hour fast, and from then on, my morning numbers have fallen to below 100, with today being the lowest at 75. I think what happened is that I finally depleted the glycogen in my liver and muscles, and I went into ketosis. My average daily numbers now are at around 130 and still falling! Exercise no longer causes a rise in blood sugar either. I had been reading about the power of fasting in managing blood sugar, but I didn't think it would work so miraculously! It's effect is nothing short of astounding.

Wow, good stuff, going to have to try this, my numbers are not as high but average around 140 during the day. Between 160-104 very rare to be under 100, starts high in the morning and goes down throughout the day. I thought it was better to eat something early( low calorie but high in fat) because it seemed to lower the sugar reading faster. But it seems it may be a mistake to have done this. Analyzing your example and considering Dr. Mindy's explanation above, now it make sense why blood sugar will stay higher at first. Thanks for sharing. Cheers and Blessings

Thank you for sharing. The resetters FB group shared this video. It’s exactly what I needed. I woke up 35 hours into a 36 hr fast with a reading of 286. I suspected what she was saying but I was unsure. I am type 2 and have been following a long acting insulin regime and getting frustrated. I’m the poster child for metabolic syndrome. 🤦🏻♀️ I’ve learned a lot about fasting over the years and have toyed with it. Last year, I fasted my way to an A1C of 7.9… but ‘life’ put me off my fasting game… which was not hard to do. I was doing a 3hr eating window… started with 6 and worked it down because eating was harder than fasting. I was hungry my whole eating window. I know it was my hormones out of whack. After a few weeks at 6 hrs, I noticed my hunger becoming more manageable and decided fewer eating hours was doable and necessary given the diabetes and metabolic issues. Fast forward a year. I gained 20lbs and my A1C is hiking up ( all while on meds)… I went back to Mindy and bought the newest book. FLAG. I am post menopausal (hysterectomy at 50). I am now 56 and the health concerns are mounting. My dr told me 2 wks ago that I was ripe for a heart attack and added even more meds. Ugh. After doing that, reluctantly, for 2 weeks… and just getting more bloated… even though I was fasting for at least 12hrs a day, I knew it wasn’t enough for my situation. I started a 36 hr fast. I hadn’t been wearing a CGM but I put one on last night, 28 hrs into the fast. My blood sugar reading was 226. Then upon waking it was so high. I started Googling and everything said I should report to the ER… but I feel fine. Well, I’m a bit hungry 😂. I put some sea salt under my tongue and drank water. I’m a little tired because sleep was hard… but I’m clearer in my head than I have been. I just want to be sure I’m not going to die. I need to get a keto monitor… but going by how I feel… I’m not going to die. No headache or fever… no body aches beyond the norm. I’m going to break this first fast at 36+ hours… follow my plan for a 12 hr eating window today, and do another 36hr fast tomorrow. I’m planning 3 per week for now. I’ve obvy got blood sugar stores everywhere. Lol. I feel good about my plan. Am grateful there is a community and information I can rely on to do this safely and not be told to see my dr because my numbers are high ( without other dangerous symptoms. ) Happy fasting everyone. ❤

I've been fasting for 34 hrs and my bs is 128 which is so disappointing cuz it was at 90 when I went to bed last night. So thanks for this video, it gives me reassurance. The messed up part is I'm in ketosis but it feels yucky cuz my blood sugar is so high.

Want to thank you for your amazing info, and for referring me to Dr Jason Fung. For the first time in 32 years of being a Type 1 diabetic, I feel validated! So much of what the two of you say resonates with me and how I've actually wanted to handle my body, my eating and my condition for years! This issue with the BS rising during a fast was really bugging me, but it makes so much sense that obviously my body needs to get rid of what's been stored for so long 😮 Generally though, my levels are perfect while fasting. I still just have one major problem - and that is the fact that THE MOMENT I start eating again, my BS jumps to 200/300! Even when I start with the "pre-break fast" snack and a small bowl of homemade (greens) soup... 😢 BTW, I've now built up to 24 or 36 hours once a week, with 16/8 in-between, doing a hormone building day once an week (for us menopausal ladies!) and completed my first 72- hour ever a few weeks back. I was so amazed at myself - didn't think I'd ever manage that - and a day later, realised I was no longer feeling the crippling, arthritic back pain that I've lived with for nearly 3 decades! 😮😮 So, things are definitely changing for the better. Now just to get my sugar levels properly on track... 🙏

I am a T1D also, nearly 22 years. I just recently learned about Dr. Mindy. I saw her book in a book store and then heard her on Dr. Mercola. I purchased her book a week ago and have started reading it. Other than the T1D all of my labwork is good. However I am at least 30lbs overweight, having gained 15lbs in the past 2 years. I need to get my A1c under 7.0. My current Endo is the first one in all these years who has strongly recommended a low carb diet. How does all of this work with those of us who are fighting against ourselves without a fully functioning pancreas? I'm also 45 and in perimenopause. I need a lot of help.

@@beroze77 it's scary how we've been forced to eat for so long, isn't it! I wish I'd known about Dr Mindy and Dr Fung 32 years ago. I'm convinced I wouldn't have become diabetic after my first pregnancy, if only I knew! Dr Mindy put me onto Dr Jason Fung - he's known for reversing type 2 and has a lot of great info for us type 1's. Search his channel on KZbin. I'm also at the point of needing a lot of help - menopausal T1 with arthritis, hiatus hernia and no gallbladder. So for me, what's good for one of those is bad for the other. A very challenging time to say the least, and BS levels on a roller coaster...🥺

@@beroze77 you’re doing the right thing. The old way of dealing with T1 was basically “you can have what you want, just make sure you inject enough insulin to counter the sugar” What a mistake. Now so many T1 are realizing they feel so much better, and losing weight by eating LC a and having a goal to need as Little insulin as possible. For type 1. Insulin isn’t the enemy . But too much insulin isn’t good for anyone.

I might suggested breaking your fast with protein & fat - zero carbs.....example bone broth with a tablespoon of EVOO, wait at least 1/2 hr., then avocado, wait 1/2 hr. then a probiotic...saurkraut is good, goat milk kefir, etc then wait...then add your greens, maybe a little more LEAN protein.....see how that works...

Just watched Dr Fung's vid on when to eat the carbs, so I think I'll try your suggestion of the greens almost last on my next fast! 👍

I'm a month in and I'm finding of the three blood glucose meters I have the keto mojo is consistently high. Why in doubt I double test with another meter. I emailed ketomojo and checked with the solution. I got a cut and paste response from KM, no two meters ever agree. They were silent on why there's is higher. Bottom line I'm seeing glucose fluctuations as DR Mindy describes in this video and I'm dropping pounds.

I experienced this for about 3 months and then boom it stopped. I would be surprised when I expected around 115 and it was 75. Or I also used to be weak or feel weird or have a racing heart at anything below 90. Now even at 72 and fasting I have massive energy. It works.

Me too! But I’ve only just got my blood glucose monitor so have no idea how high my fasting levels were when I had greater levels of stored sugar-in-bodyfat. I’m down to 135 lbs from somewhere up near 150lbs back at the beginning of January. I’m 5‘8“ tall and 54 years old, postmenopausal. I’m so interested to see where this journey will take me as I’m absolutely loving my lean, stronger body minus all the general aches and pains, which have dogged me through out my adult life, because of my inflammatory high sugar lifestyle. And I thought I was healthy! 😂 Dr Mindy; your advice & teachings are so helpful & uplifting. ❤❤❤

I’ve been working on improving my metabolic health since the beginning of January of 2023, so new to all this!! I’ve been working to cut out added sugar, and eat a diet with way fewer carbs, coupled with time restricted eating. I had a full blood panel drawn the 2nd week in March, so about 10 weeks on this new lifestyle. I was dismayed that after about 22 hours fasting, my blood glucose was 107! UGH! Well light dimmed, but NOT extinguished, pressing onward with hopes that in time, my health corrects! Thanks so much for your passion Dr. Mindy! I’ve learned so much from you, and am shocked that, at 63, my doctor HAS NEVER talked to me about metabolic health! She pushed back when I also pressed for a fasting insulin test, saying my A1-C would suffice, stating that insurance would likely not cover it! When I looked at what the lab was going to charge for the fasting insulin test, it was $7 and change, certainly not a bank breaker!! Thanks again!!!!

Keep up the good work! As a 64 year old woman, I am deeply saddened by all I was never told about metabolic health. So many years of damage we all piled up to our bodies. I am one year into Keto and IF and I feel like a million bucks, my husband too. For us, no more high blood pressure meds, arthritic pains, heartburn, leg and foot craps, low energy and a seemingly endless list of things we assumed was age-related. Our quite overweight family doctor, whom I loved, retired last year (our age) due to health conditions. I want to “teach” him now.

I can’t express how much I agree with both of you. I am 55 and have just started IF. My doctor says I’m within healthy ranges for all my tests but my naturopath says no way- I’m too close to unhealthy ranges in her opinion in many of my blood tests. She’s working with me and totally supportive of IF. I used to have arthritic pain in my hips - at 55! - all gone now after 10 weeks of IF and following Dr Mindy’s advice.

i suppose the question is 'how long' does it take for each of those areas to 'dump' the sugar? i know there is no exact date, but a ballpark i think will help folks like me who may not realize they are tapping into these stores of sugar and how to make sure we are getting rid of them to help us return to normal.

I suppose that will depend entirely on how much stored sugar and individual has. And an easier way to understand this might be that if you are fatter, then you are more likely to have higher stored sugar levels, than somebody who is lean. I suspect that as your body fat percentage drops, so must therefore your stored sugar levels as you have depleted them by fasting practices? Am I right Dr Mindy?

Thank you so much for this video! Needed to see this video because I started 16:8 Intermittent Fasting back on 090123. In the first 3 months I saw my glucose go down but in the 4th month, my glucose shot up to a fasting of 185 (I’m a type 2) and nothing I did helped, varying fast lengths including 2 different days of a 24 hour fast. Also in the fourth month my body felt very comfortable fasting. I decided to try a 72 hour fast and boom! I saw glucose drop to a healthier level of 107 fasting. I have been eating low carb and exercising plenty. The high glucose I was experiencing must have been glycogen stores in liver and elsewhere dumping out into my bloodstream. I feel fantastic now and know IF is my permanent lifestyle. I’m no longer on any diabetic meds. It’s a wonderful journey! Thank You Dr. Mindy! You’re Awesome and Very Inspirational!

Hi, Dr. Mindy. I am 60 years old and a longtime sufferer from high blood pressure. 185 over 140. After discovering fasting, I am amazed at the difference it made. I am very strict with myself and will now start monitoring my blood sugar levels. My last blood pressure test was 120 over 65.

I have lost 55 pounds since September & have lost 5 inches in my waist by cutting out sugars. Once more time passes & my persistence continues I hope that my blood glucose will reflect positively!

Dr. Mindy, as soon as this happened, I searched for information from you, and I'm so relieved to find it. 2 months I have been not drinking alcohol, concentrating on metabolic flexibility, whole foods, and all-around better protocol. My fasted bloods have always been around 112 but have shot up to 136. I know I'm doing everything right, fasting every day, approx 18 to 20 hours. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief and know that this is a positive change and keep testing until the day it drops... 😅 I was fearful that high glucose would trigger insulin to now, make me, store everything as fat. I've just been diagnosed as Pre diabetic and I asked my doctor for a CGM. I have been IF for over a month and have cut my carb intake to about 50 g per day. Today is day 3 with the CGM and my 3 day average bg is at 123 but I was concerned about the fluctuations during the day because I am fasting. This video explains it so well and now I know that the goal is to get the daily average down and now I have a starting point and each day the CGM is gathering more info to help me stay on track. I now consider the spikes as my body is dumping excess sugar which is the goal. Thank you so much for having the answers when we need them!

I’ve been doing fast like a girl protocol for about a month now. When I started my fasting blood sugar was between 130 and 140. And I’ve been getting it down in the 90s or low hundreds recently but we went on a three day mini vacation this weekend. No foods were available that were clean so I did my best to make the best choices, except for chips and salsa when we did Mexican And I was wondering what my levels would be when I got home. This morning my blood sugar was 111 which isn’t great, but it’s not as the bad as it was and I had only gained about a pound, which was great because I had lost almost 10, so I couldn’t really see results which is so encouraging.

This is so helpful. It took me a few months to get to place where I’m consistently 90 or lower. I no longer have the glucose dump in the middle of the night and can maintain healthy glucose levels for greater than 95% is the day. I had to make lifestyle changes. Was a sugar addict, plain and simple and decided to give it up. I also started wearing a cgm which was game changing so I could monitor what foods caused spikes and learned how my body feels when my sugars are out of range. I also learned to “drop and squat” to bring my glucose spike down. Wearing the cgm has been a game changer. I vary my fasts, find I don’t need hacks as often to fast for 17+, as often as before. No judgment, I use them when needed, I just find I don’t need them as often. I’m down 15 lbs and finally after years of not being able to budge my weight feel confident I’ll get to my goal weight loss 30-40 lbs. I don’t crave sugar as before and feel more control over my eating. I was discouraged early on but stuck with it. Had to remember I didn’t gain 40lbs overnight and it was going to take time to change my eating and daily sugar habits. I had to stop emotional/boredom eating and do something different. I’ve learned a lot from you and greatly appreciate you Dr. Mindy!

Last May, my blood sugar was 59 when I went in for my annual exam. I started watching your videos last week & I did a 48 hour fast. Checked my blood and it was 113! I freaked. So glad you have this explaining what's going on with our bodies, it calmed me down. Just started this journey a week ago, but am looking forward to seeing how long it'll take me to get that number down during an extended fast. ☺️

Wow.. I have been addicted to sugar :( I try to avoid sugar substitutes because they are horrible for bladder health. I started fasting 1 day a week 2 days ago, and it is soooo hard. Yesterday I fasted since 2pm (half a day). It is very hard to abstain from sugar with a full time desk job and kids. I am 47, 5'4 and 140-145 lbs. I really hope that by listening to your channel, I will some day make a will power effort. Fasting and abstaining from sugar seems a terrible beast to face..

Can you substitute sweet things made with non artificial sweeteners like Stevia and swerve? It has saved me when I have cravings and.satisfies a sweet tooth. The best part is that there is no kickback of the awful damage sugar brings and no blood sugar spikes.

@@joannamaldonado1446 Hmm.. I suppose it's fine if not consumed in high doses. I noticed that when I eat a small sweet treat, my cravings disappear and it's easier for me to control my food intake. When I was using artificial sweeteners, I would end up overeating something I did not even want and yet still have cravings. Perhaps it's because I am addicted to sugar far more than you :)

You will don’t worry because we all have been there. But once you start a full time fasting regime as per your choice you will not look back. It will become your lifetime routine. Speaking with experience. Two meals a day is my permanent thing with Omad once in a while depending on my menstruation cycle. Nd I don’t touch anything sweet unless on rare occasions that to just to satisfy my liking. Nd all thanks to dr Mindy and dr. Berg. They guided me change my life. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I love this education! I had to go back to Dr.Mindy's videos today. First one was from 3y ago when she talked about the 'dawn effect'. And then watching this video also settled the freak out moment when I took my blood glucose level and it was high. 30min later took another one and it was coming down. I am doing an 18h fast.

Thanks Dr Mindy, I had to search to find this answer. I’ve been IF for 1 year and keto for 2 years. Tracking glu/ket for 5 mos has made a huge difference. I’ve been able to accomplish ketosis consistently not a deep state but sufficient enough for weight loss. I’m at my goal weight of 140lb 5’8”. I’ve been trying to find my best fasting schedule for myself and just finished a 36 hr fast. My glucose has remained around 100/ 99/97 over this fast. My ketones were 1.5 after 28 hrs. I was confused. Longer fasts get my glucose as low as 74. So I am comforted by this information and it makes me realize how I do need to continue both IF and ketogenic diet. One last note, after reaching my goal weight, I see my body needs to regain some muscle. I have increased my protein in my daily diet (aiming for 75-90 Gm). Hard to do. Also wondering if this is the cause of the higher glucose levels during this 36 hr fast? Also I drink LMNT on this 36 hr water fast. I’ve never noticed the Stevia in it increasing my glucose. Others are saying it does. Any info would be helpful. Thank you, so very much. ❤

THANK YOU!! I have been diabetic for 26 years. I am 66, and when I hit 60 I got serious about my health and started intermittent fasting. My blood sugar came down enough to get off Metformin. However I was still having an a1c in the 6s. I began a low-carb lifestyle, and it helped. Now, though, It hovers around 6 because I have been struggling with the willpower to eat Low-carb. The struggle is due to raising 2 little boys that can eat anything. I limit their sugar, but not so much their carbs. I'm excited to find this video because it explains why my fasting glucose isn't where I want it all the time. I am getting back on the fasting/low=carb bandwagon! I think you are the one to follow!

I have been fasting following Fast Like a Girl for about 4-5 weeks. The first week/two I did see my blood sugar go down. Down to the 70s and 80s. But for the last week, week and a half it does jot go under 100. It lingers even between 110-125! Only going to the high 90s after a 36+ hour fast (I substituted 24 for 26 hours on the cycle). I know not to give up and I figured my system was going after stored sugars but I was beginning to get worried and thought of calling my doctor. Even thought that the KetoMojo was defective! I was JUST telling my coworker about it when this was posted. Thank you! It encourages me and let's me know I'm doing the right thing. In due time. My body is healing. 😊

This is sooo helpful! I’ve been fasting regularly for several months but got serious after reading FLAG. I definitely noticed my blood sugar is never below 105 when I wake and it has been a bit discouraging so this is great tho hear! I started following you right as FLAG was being launched. I preordered it and have been fascinated by all I’ve learned. I was reminded of something that made me really connect with how much a woman’s hormones should be factored in to medical care for us. 20 years ago my daughter, as a result of pre surgery screening, was diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, Von Willebrand, it was told to us back then as I was being tested that the testing on women can be difficult because blood factors fluctuate based on a woman’s cycle. How amazing that you and others are bringing women’s hormones to the forefront of medical care! I’m certain this will bring so many amazing changes!

Excellent Dr. Mindy. I have had glucotoxicity (aka type 2 diabetes) for about 65 years. Decades ago I lost my morning appetite and had no hunger pangs until around noon. When I started taking BG readings I found out that my BG kept rising until about noon. My body was trying to fix the problem. After Fung educated me, I developed a dynamic BG fasting protocol that involves taking BG readings at regular intervals: 6 am, 12 noon, 6 pm etc using a Comtour Next One with my iPhone. The resulting graphs show the downward trend of BG (which is an indicator not THE problem as most mainstream medical professionals believe). I found that it can take 48 to 72 hours of fasting to get BG into an acceptable range. Contributory factors include NAFLD/toxic liver and visceral/ectopic fat deposits. I am using castor oil liver packs in conjunction with fasting. Being able to track progress confirms one is going in the right direction.

Hey there. Just wanted to say I am brand new to the IMF lifestyle, literally started four days ago. My first day I did a 33 hour fast, second round I did a 22 hour fast, and I just finished another 22 hour fast. Out of curiosity, I checked my FSBS and was shocked to see that it was 157; consequently, I checked it this evening, just prior to breaking my fast and it was 164. I almost lost it when I saw the numbers. I though, WTH!!! Sooooo, I turned to ur videos in search of an answer, and PTL, I found this video. Thank you so much for explaining this. I am so grateful for you. I am so hopeful in this process. Been trying to lose weight after becoming menopausal, but it has been Noll and void.

I am a 76 year-of woman, 20-30 pounds overweight, but have never had blood sugar problems (A1C about 5.4 I think). Started intermittent fasting almost 3 weeks ago, and have been dismayed to see my blood sugar like 97 or so in the morning when I wake up, which seems high to me. Thank you for making it so simple to understand. I have been following your videos/books and fasting for 2 months and just purchased a glucose monitor. At first I was so upset when I saw that my numbers were 109 or 108 upon waking in the morning and they only went down to high 90s a few hours later before eating. I do know that I am eating more carbs then I should.( I am a sourdough bread maker and dessert baker)I am working on learning to handle it better. But, it all makes sense! Thank you for your information! Love feeling better and losing weight and going through menopause more easily than before fasting.

Thanks for this reminder that 'Rome was not built in a day' Dr. Mindy. I'm a post menopausal woman in my late 60s. I have been using 16:8 IF for more than a year but only recently began a keto lifestyle with active monitoring of blood sugars/ketones. I was shocked to discover that my first AM sugars would sometimes be above 130 and even up to the 150s. Needless to say this seriously freaked me out. As I began to employ more extended fasts I could see improvement in my first AM sugars during the fasting period. It still takes 48-72 hours of a water fast to get those to 90 or below consistently. It is now a bit more than 6 mos of effort with a combination of OMAD, once monthly extended fasts of up to 7 days, occasional feast days and LCHF eating. I have dropped 30lbs, have decreased my HbA1c and feel really good but I STILL see AM sugars above 100 on a regular basis. I'm sure not giving up and just have to be patient and consistent with my approaches. Thanks again for the reassuring video.

After 20 years of whole food eating this information is GOLDEN. It was a light bulb moment when i finally understood that insulin is the key. I've since jumped into the deep end...fasted 36 hours with ease...and pushed that to 4 days to get my body to dig into the fat stores. Since January I've been eating 20-35g of carbs max, mixing up when i eat with various feeding windows and doing water only fasting between 24-and 48 hours here and there to keep my body guessing. I am comfortable with one meal a day, and so far the fat seems to be burning away steadily. I've lost roughly 20 pounds thus far and i have at least another 30 to go in order to reach my goal. I want to stay in fat-burning mode until i have depleted the fat stores (inches must be lost). Eating 30 grams of carbs or less has definitely been doable; yet i 'm consuming under 1000 cal per day. I'm not too worried about it, though i keep finding medical advice that assert consuming at least 1300 calories per day to cover my basal metabolic rate. Is that now rubbish? It leads to one question: Why the hell would i want to risk turning off the furnace at this point? Can't i just keep up low-carb eating and dynamic fasting until i reach my goal weight and then resume eating whole food starches like brown rice and potatoes as usual? I may need to monitor my blood glucose response and moderate the starch intake in the future, but hey - eating whole unprocessed natural foods can't be the reason i got into this over-storage situation. And if i eat like it's 1974 then it means by default i will only eat up to 3 times per day at the most.

I just started being very intentional on fasting, writing down what and when I am eating, etc. I sleep well, but wake in the 4:00 hour consistently (I also go to bed by or before 9:00, so I typically have been asleep for 7-8 hours). If I take a BS reading when I first get out of bed, I am over 100 (and slightly climbing over the last 2 weeks). When I wait for a couple of hours, still fasted, it will be high 80's. Thank you for this (and your other videos and book) to help me know my body is doing what it is supposed to do to become more healthy.

Great topic. I consistently see blood sugar drop at the end of day 1, but comes back up. As you say, I interpret this as a liver “dump” giving me - oddly - higher ketones and higher blood sugar😮. When I fast regularly (“stacking” different length fasts closer in time) the stored glycogen in the liver seems to be depleted over time, and the rises seem less pronounced, and the drops lower.

This is the first day of trying your method and also the first day of glucose testing. Upon waking this am, my glucose was 80. After a black coffee, a workout, and a few hours, it went to 85. This helped explain why!! I will keep at it 💪🏻

YES, THIS WAS SO HELPFUL! I am on week 2 of fasting while monitoring blood glucose levels and week 1 of basal body temperature. I have PCOS and hyperinsulinemia (insulin resistance) so I am monitoring several aspects of my health at once. I don't know how long it will take for my fasting glucose to be in the normal range, but I do know that it was getting low every day while I was menstruating and once menstruation stopped, my blood glucose shot back up! So, ladies! Pay attention to what happens during your cycle. Women's bodies fluctuate a lot as hormone levels rise and fall. I really recommend a blood glucose monitor. LET'S DO THIS!

Great info, thanks! Makes perfect sense! I have been diagnosed as a T2D, in '08. Been healing that with keto, IF and 48 hr. fasts weekly. Recently did a 72 hr. fast. 36 hrs in my reading was 73. 60 hrs in it was 130!! Glad I had this info! Interestingly, 4 hrs.after breaking my fast @72 hrs, VERY JUDICIOUSLY with bone broth, then saurkraut, then avocado, then 1 c. lightly steamed broccoli & chicken breast my reading was 99! Another interesting change since ending my fast is that Im not getting sleepy after my OMAD meal like I was b4. I think my liver dumped a bunch of storaged sugar during my fast...Hasta la vista, baby!😊

You are such a blessing! Thank you for this info! I am doing alternate day around 40-42 hr fasts for my type 2 and I have my lowest numbers on the morning of my eating days around 36 hrs after beginning the fast and progressively overall better numbers since starting fasting after 3 weeks

I've been doing keto and fasting for years but was doing some check ins this week. I'm seeing blood sugar going up from waking for the following few hours and finally dropping mid afternoon (20hrs after eating) when my ketones properly kick in too. That was always what I felt in my body. Mid afternoon felt like a sugar dip. Anyway, really helpful reassurance on the pattern. Thanks.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been fasting for almost 3 months now, not eating for 5 or 6 days, then having a small meal (a plain hamburger and some broccoli), then go into another extended fast. I'm that type 2 who has been out of control for 20 years and haven't been able to figure out how fasting the way I am and losing 40 pounds in 3 months, my blood glucose won't drop. Without eating for 6, 7, 8 days, my glucose is still sitting at 130. I just hope that I'm getting close to the end of my stores and it can start coming down soon.
