Yeah I got some of the cheap-o-eBay cutouts… leaked and rattled…simple fix cured the leak and rattle…grease the perimeter of the butterfly flap get some permatex high temp sealant #81878 put the sealant on the seat where flap meets seat. Shut the valve and leave for 24 hours. The grease will keep the flap from sticking to the sealant…worked for me.

I’ve had a hooker cutout exactly like this on my truck for about two and a half years. I just had to order my fourth replacement motor. Found them for $35 on eBay so I ordered two because that’s the cheapest I’ve ever seen them. The gears inside the motor strip out. Not sure why. The valve is always pretty free moving. I’ve even clicked it where the motor is below the exhaust and gets hit by moving air driving down the road. I get 6-9 months before I need to replace the motor.

Great question. Band clamps are typically for slip fit pipes, ie one inside the other. Since this would be a butt joint, I'm not so sure the band clamp could withstand the side loading created, and will probably start to sag at those points. Let us know if you find any other solutions! Nice install! Was checking these out on summit but the reviews weren’t that great! Hopefully you can give us some feedback soon!

Thanks! Feedback? They're freakin great! I don't know what issues people were having, but I clearly had no problem. Highly recommended. If you have any questions, let me know. Have fun, and thanks for the comment!

Great job man. I wanted to ask does it do any damage to the car in the long run?
@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
Good question... Nope. It just gives you the option to run without Mufflers. Which is insanely loud. So, I usually open them up when entering/leaving car shows. :)

@@FastMonty Man thanks for the reply, I did it on my Nissan Maxima, the sound is awesome but too loud and the vibration during drive is annoying so I was thinking to move the cut out from the middle of the exhaust to the back of it. On my Maxima I have 1 exhaust that divides into 2 mufflers. So my question is (sorry if it's a stupid one) is it a good idea to install the Cut Out just on 1 of the mufflers?

@@SlavikMilerFitness Great question... I have no idea. I don't think it would, but again, it's a car I'm not familiar with. Give it a shot and find out! Ha. ha... thanks!

@@FastMonty Hey bro so I ended up moving the cut out a bit before 1 of my mufflers and it sound great + the strong vibration is gone.

I think an aluminum drive shaft will be nice upgrade for your car…4 inch diameter ?
@FastMonty3 жыл бұрын
That is the upgraded drive shaft... ha, ha... I can go much larger, I don't have a lot of room under there. Thanks Toby!

Curious I read one of the reviews said after he closed the butterfly valves would open slightly and rattle did you have that problem

Zero problems thus far... :)

What gets me... such a nice car and then those cheap crimp terminals. At least solder and shrinktube them.

Agreed. I now use solder splices. Thanks!

it will work if i only cut one but my car has two outlets
@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
So does mine.
@coloniall2 жыл бұрын
My question was if it would work if I cut only one or do I need to cut both? so that the a bit aggressive is heard
@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
@@coloniall Yeah, that side would be louder. Not sure if that would sound "Good" or not?

Does it matter that you put them in backwards, I feel like the exhaust has to do a 180 to get out?
@FastMonty3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would matter if I put them in backwards... ha, ha... But, I didn't. Thanks,

Nice Mike. Do they make a 4" for my duramax diesel?

Ha! That would be awesome! Thanks Mike...

It wouldn’t matter if the valve was level, that wouldn’t hinder its performance.
@FastMonty3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. What does matter is ground clearance, and body clearance, which happens to be right where that flange is level to the ground. Hence my leveling comment. Thanks for the comment!

@@FastMonty this is a great video and very insightful. I wish I could weld cuz I can do everything else.
@FastMonty3 жыл бұрын
@@DoubleTimeRC Thanks! Being able to weld is a game changer, cuz, now I can get super creative with, well, everything. ha, ha... I would suggest saving up for a good TIG welder. While it's harder to learn, you can weld EVERYTHING, stainless tubing, sheet metal, and aluminum! As I said in the end, I'm still not that good at it, but it freakin works. Keep at it, and thanks for the comments!
