I owned one of the first QC's, sold it due to the fact the promises of coming features did not look to be getting fulfilled, Been running a Helix Rack with the Helix Control foot controller, just recently got the Tone Master Pro, and now that NeuralDSP is finally living up to the hype that sold me on buying the QC in the first place, I'm working on sourcing another QC to add to my digital arsenal. I don't think that you should ever have to explain why you run the gear that you want to run, they are all tools that you utilize to get the sounds that you want, and If you run your QC, in to a TMP, in conjunction with pedals in effects loops on the units or even your final amp, that's your process.

Yeah I had my singer's QC back when it was pretty new to the market so that I could setup some patches/scenes for him to use during our shows and I thought it was perfectly fine as a modeler, had some decent effects and the relatively small form factor coming from his Helix LT was nice to free up some space on his board but yeah, not having a software interface or plugin support was a huge stain on that unit for so long. Better late than never I guess.
@LexJones

@@FastRedPonyCar It was the lack of a software interface that really killed it for me, I could figure out using the thing via the 7" touchpad alright, but I develop my tones at my computer, a guitar in my ands and a huge screen to see ly signal path, and play around with all of the variables. IMO they kind of shot their selves in the foot not bringing that out much sooner than they did, the #1 reason I sold it. As dumb as that sounds it was a really important missing feature to me.

Hey Drew, I know this is newer device for you but look into scene mode. It will take a little more preset building, but it adds a whole new level to the QC.

I've setup scenes for our singer's QC and our bassist just this week setup a midi controller to let him do hybrid mode but I'm a lot more simple with how I use the device. I use one main sound and then just toggle a couple of effects on/off with stomp mode and a solo boost and that's kinda it.

Great video. Save money and space and get the Walrus HP4 power supply. It powers the QC like the Crux plus DC7 in one box. Working great for me with one cable power and had 3 other 500 ma outputs
@FastRedPonyCar
@FastRedPonyCar Ай бұрын
I looked at that but I need more power plugs and would have had to buy a second unit to facilitate. Also, I was able to find my DC7 at a b-stock discount so that helped. They need to add that capability to the 8 port unit.

It 100% is. I originally got it for a demo product but after playing it for like 5 hours straight the day I got it, hearing that it sounded better than every other guitar I own and seeing the reaction from people at our shows, I told the guys at Zzounds that they could have it back when they pry it from my cold dead hands... or just send me the bill.

@@FastRedPonyCar Yeah, the look is fantastic, but the tone is on another level. Good buy. The Explorer shape is a bit out there, but also so ergonomic. I have a St Vincent which is essentially a somewhat cut-down Explorere in many ways, with similar comfort carves and a nice right elbow rest. I'm now on the lookout for a red EXlorerebird. I think I know a shop not too far away that has one :))))))) Addit - yep there is one in Brisbane, only 150km away. Now I need to sell some stuff.

When you split the outputs for 1 to the FRFR and 1 to the PA, do you get any latency between the two? I got the Nano and want to run one output to my FRFR10 and then out of that to the PA, and the other Nano output straight to the PA. I tested in the shop (the guy there wanted to know the answer as well!) and there was a bit of latency (I use an Edge delay and play something like Where the Streets Have No Name and that always shows up any latency). We managed to reduce it by running the same cable lengths (20ft XLR from the Nano direct to the PA, and 2x 10ft for Nano > FRFR > PA). But I wondered if you’d come up against this at all. If I’m having to leave my wet/dry tube amp rig at home, I want to be getting the benefits of stereo outs on the Nano, as well as having on-stage monitoring so I feel like I have an amp (the FRFR). Great videos and tones - keep ‘em coming! I fear you may cost me some $ in moving to a QC at some stage, but I’m currently enjoying the Nano in the middle of a board with some of my traditional pedals. Baby steps etc!
@FastRedPonyCar
@FastRedPonyCar Ай бұрын
I can't hear any latency with mine. Even running an in ear system that has a transparency mode that lets me hear the room sound as well, I didn't hear any latency between the sound hitting my in ears vs the sound from my FRFR. If I did, it would have driven me up the wall.

The lack of bluetooth in the QC piss me off! i would like to have a app on my phone to edit patch in live gigs without a need to bend down! also the 1/4 outputs are useless without a xrl line conected (ground-noise issues).
@FastRedPonyCar
@FastRedPonyCar Ай бұрын
There are ground lifts for all inputs/outputs. I haven't had any ground issues with mine using the 1/4" jacks. It has wifi so there's nothing stopping them from making an app that connects with the unit that way. That's how the OX Box works with tablets. None of the other big digital units have phone app connectivity so I understand why Neural aren't rushing to add that feature.

Ar 7:32 when you are explaining the flip flop between the two amps will the Nano Cortex actually allow you to put 2 amps in and blend the sound between them like the Fractal FM9?
@FastRedPonyCar
@FastRedPonyCar Ай бұрын
Yes. In fact, you could blend 2 high gain amps for your drive sound and have a 3rd amp for a clean channel and then use the switch to disable both high gain amps and enable the clean amp.
@onenotesolo256
@onenotesolo256 Ай бұрын
@LouCondon-j1v if I understand the question correctly, then the answer is no for the Nano Cortex - I don’t have a QC so I defer owners. The Nano is designed so you can toggle between different amps (or use MIDI to switch seamlessly between a number of captures on your preset list). You can’t have two amps running together…..although you have just made me realise that I could potentially mic up my wet/dry tube amp rig, run it through my DAW and then sum that into one line and capture it in the Nano. So not quite a proper dual amp rig in separate FOH speakers, but the blended sound would be nice. Thanks for giving me the idea! !

I can't get a good high gain capture from Tonex, and I use their AXE I/O to do it. My Headrush Prime gets a far better result in 5 minutes than Tonex does after 3 hours of advanced training. I'm perhaps doing something wrong, but for me Tonex is the worst.
@FastRedPonyCar
@FastRedPonyCar Ай бұрын
ToneX can't do half what the QC does. Yeah it has captures and they sound good but the process of capturing is a huge hassle and much more time consuming and you need to rely on multiple external pedals to facilitate the type of use that I personally need from a device.
@christopheranderson2158
@christopheranderson2158 Ай бұрын
🤦‍♂️……There is no such thing as “better”. It’s all about what a player wants and needs the gear to achieve for them in their scenario. You may find the ToneX works great for you….others may not. Different strokes for different folks…….learn it….love it…..live it.
@tah5w
@tah5w Ай бұрын
@@christopheranderson2158 At the end of the day, one would like to be able to capture amps and pedals, play them with IRs, and have great effects. Tonex allows you to do this for $ 150-400 depending on which pedal. Kemper costs double this for the same thing. Agree with you that quad cortex is different, since it has much better output capability,, touch screen, etc. but otherwise, I think its difficult to make the case that Kemper or nano cortex make much sense comparatively, unless you just want to pay hundreds of dollars for looks or something.

The tonex is made by a company that nickel and dimes most of their amps. IK Multimedia and Amplitube suck the biggest balls in the modeling industry. Even line6 is better.
