My grandparents taught us that those who do not participate in the "barbaric natural act of hunting" will not respect their food and therefore waste it. And it rings so true. I see people just wanting the good cuts of meat and they throw the rest in the bin. Hunting yourself teaches you the value of life and hopefully makes you respect that animal enough to use all of it. Not a fan of factory farming, but I am for eating meat. I just really appreciate someone who does it themselves. My mum and I live near the coast in the capital (Greece). Since I was a kid to now in my 20s, we often go fishing on these rocks near the beach. During the winter she catches squid and cuttlefish in the night. I swim there, so I help her to spot fish, avoid rocks, etc. I gather clams, urchins, and snails for us to use as bait. I even caught an octopus once. It was an hour long battle of me lifting rocks and dragging it out of holes with a metal rod. We ate well that night. We also had tomatoes and potatoes in our back yard. Best damn potatoes I've ever had. We moved recently and we have a much smaller yard, but I think it's still doable. Obviously we needed to buy food, but the fish save us some money. And we have a good time together! The veggies are just a nice bonus. We also have lemon trees, and every year gather olives from the neighbourhood's olive trees. Big jugs, we brine them and gift some to friends, and family abroad. We keep a few. Same for the lemons.

Take the Fishery in the East Pacific for example, most species were endangered for a while but well managed efforts by fishermen working with conservation groups and the government were able to work out a healthy fishery that allowed the population to bounce back to sustainable levels while still maintaining a fishing presence

And actually, McDonalds hangs the chickens by the feet and they go dangling along a conveyer where their neck meets a whirling blade and if any of them misses the blade, there is a woman with a knife to make sure none escapes. Also efficient. But at least, there might be some hope for escape from those men with nets if the little birds just eat a little less or the boat motor sputters, but that woman standing just behind the whirling blade and holding the sharp knife a dead certain end. As a 14 year old Faroe Islander, I don't understand why people say that we can't eat fish, pilot whales and fat birds. It has been our meals, everyday, for the past 200 years, so why stop now? We kill the animals so fast, that they're not in pain. The whales get a cut in the neck, and die right away. If you do it wrong and if the whale's in pain, you're no longer allowed to kill whales. I'm not a big lover of fat bird, but I eat it if it's on the table. You eat what you get. I spend a lot of time in the summer outside, helping my grandpa, my uncle and dad, with the sheeps and birds. it's just our way of living our lives.

@@gregorydimaio3260 All animals are intelligent. Some are just more intelligent than others, but while Pilot whales probably are not dumb, their is no scientific research stating that pilot whales are abnormally intelligent. According to most so called "animal smart lists" they do not even feature among the top 100. At the same time pigs are well documented to be among the most intelligent animals in this planet. Yet they are deprived of any of their dignity and killed for money. Even in your own country..and mine Maybe people should not lecture others when they are worse them selves

@@annikaniclasen9025 1. The whale meat isn't even good for you. It is way too high in Mercury and other heavy metals to be safe enough to consume. It's also frequently contaminated with DDT and PCB. 2. Being stabbed in the neck and bleeding out isn't that fast. And it's not necessarily the killing itself that does harm. It's the animals being corralled and separated and watching each other die. These whales have very tight social groups like humans. How would you feel having your relatives murdered in front of you?

This happens in the video, but happens so fast most people have no clue what they are actually watching. His actions causes the bird to become instantly braindead. This is a very quick and effective way to kill a small animal. Not till after this (when the animal is numb and braindead) does he start pulling its head.

I got the message. Reducing meat, sticking to free range, organic, equitable, local, seasonal ... in fact, it's the cheaper option here in France for the most part. I used to sometimes get a free range organic turkey on order in the States. Turkeys go for 70 to 100 USD equivalent here in France but they prefer goose and other things anyway. Scott Rea has a great recent clip up of what lovelieness can come of an ordinary turkey, however, and I recommend his channel. The bird has a good life, then gets a quick death For those who do not know, the killing takes a split of a second as he swiftly with a one hand move breaks the spinal cords of the little bird. That numbs and brain kills the little bird instantly. What ever he does afterwards is to a already brain dead animal. yes, wings may flap, feet may move after this, but that is all last seconds muscle nervetractions. Happens all the time as part of any slaughter and if you worked in a hospital you would also see it when humans die.

a b Yes not a very nice sight. These environmental assholes also kill whales and dolphins mainly for fun and sport. They even leave discarded dolphins lying around, as they can not consume all the kills, mainly because it is toxic with methyl mercury. Check this out: facebook.com/OpBloodyFjords/photos/a.427766560661552/1572325922872271/?type=3&theater These people are disgusting.

Not true. Mack Man with his tin foild hat is yet again out of his rubber cell spitting more ridicules lies. These islanders kill nothing for fun or sport. Watch the damn video and see it for your self. It is simply food for them.
@125minden6 жыл бұрын
Blue Heart this is coming from the person who continually repeats toxic whale and dolphin meat is "organic" and that the islanders are "eco friendly" when in fact they kill more cetaceans than any other country per capita in hte world, as well as endangered spieces. You are nothing but a conveyor belt of bull shit, so sit down and shut up.
@blueheart87866 жыл бұрын
It is more dangerous to drink two glasses then eating the amounts of whale meat these islanders do. Even organic rice contains risen that can kill humans in concentrated form, yet it is still defined as being organic rise. Seems like your little brain can not comprehend that something organic can still contain something, if consumed in to large amounts, is bad for you. Another thing is: why does Sea Shepherd spend so many millions of ridicules propaganda and absolute no millions of dollars on the actual problem you keep raising: pollution and toxins?

No because before the heads gets ripped off the spine separates. So it's dead before the head come off. They do the same to rabbits
@supersonicmemed7 жыл бұрын
i dont think it makes them die instantly. it just separates spine and nervous system. i believe it takes afew seconds more for brain to use the blood till it stops. i've read that in some researchs it takes 20-30 seconds for humans and they were probably concious in that period. im not sure about the hearth tho maybe a doctor or veterinarian with knowledge can explain it better.

I'm a vegan and all for good treatment of the animals, but I mean if you compare this to cow&pork&chicken and other mass industries - this bird gets really good treatment.. It's been living pretty happy life till it was eaten, treated with respect, wasn't raped in order to multiply... Can't really hate on the guy in my opinion..
