For all those asking, the cat hissed immediately after the individual scratching her stopped focusing on the area at the base of her tail and moved his hand to her upper back. It was a 'don't stop doing that' hiss.

It's an area they are unable to reach and scratch/clean by themselves, which must absolutely torment them the older they get. When you perform this action for them the automatic reaction is for them to act like they are performing the action themselves, hence the need to lick and bite something.

BTW those are called kittie kisses, they only just their tiny front teeth and similar to the grooming found amongst monkeys, they are trying to groom you. Those tiny teeth are brushes they use to groom themselves and kittens.

It's lovely when a cat nibbles your fingers; it's so gentle when you know that if they wanted to they could sink their fangs in down to the bone. My ex's cat used to wake her by nibbling her eyebrows, which has the added advantage of having your face tickled by their whiskers.

I had a black tortie that would do a similar thing, other than the meow. She would intensely lick and do that nibble motion when she was brushed and you'd get to the base of her tail.

I had a cat that did something like that when we scratched his sweet spot, except he wouldn't meow, he'd just clean the closest thing to him, whether it be the deck, the wall, our toes, our fingers, the couch, other cats, pretty much anything he could find. :)

The spot right at the tail is a super sensitive spot for cats, especially for females. This spot is stimulated sometimes during intercourse, I don't get why there pop up so many videos like that up left and right. You re basically having foreplay with your cat and everyone is like: OMG SO CUTEE

Wrong! Mostly if not all, it's just an unreachable spot for them to reach and scratch! Plus some cats don't react well at all when touched there. Check out how other animals react when scratched where they cannot reach!

Your just watching a cat's MANY reactions to relieving an itch that feels incredibly good. The base of a cat's tail can be a sweet spot for scratching because it's a really hard area for them to get to themselves. Notice how the cat is licking and nipping the lady's hand? Well, they naturally do that when they scratch/groom themselves. Their paws, legs, back and tail are areas their claws cant get to, so they have to use their tongue and teeth to relieve a scratch. As the lady scratches the sweet spot, the cat also lick and nip her hand in unison because it's a natural reaction they do to themselves when grooming/scratching.

Her back is itching and she can't scratch it. Therefore she meows, because that's what cat's do when they're asking for something. She's saying "oh, yes, that's it, some more, please".
