Fate Take: Lancelot Should've Been Mordred's Dad

Fate's a cool series, but there's a few things about it that I think are missed opportunities.

A question I didn’t think to bring up in the video: wouldn’t Artoria being pregnant destroy the ruse of her being a man? You can wave that away that she wasn’t seen much publicly during the pregnancy, or that she said she was going on a long quest when she was really going off somewhere secret to carry the child, with Merlin watching over her. Merlin himself would’ve helped with illusion magic to sell the whole thing as well.

Unlimited Bladeworks is also a what if scenario, similar to Heavens Feel. Each route centers around which love interest you end up with in the game.

Convoluted shit like Fate's take on Arthurian lore is why I've always leaned towards Fate/Prototype.

Welllllll, the thing iss. There is even a male arthur🗿. And the thing is artoria knew that lancelot and guiniviare an affair but she and lancelot kept it a secret as artoria doesnt really care about guiniveir as she is actually a woman. So it was marraige just in name. I mean fate lore is really complicated. But if you want. You can play the grand order game and play through camelot singularity. As it clarifies most of the important things. Either way all of these things are actually impirtant as they actually do play part in future chapters of the game. So i think the path the game chose was correct. I mean i can talk more about the lore if you want. I am basically a fate encyclopedia (mostly) so if you have any questions just ask me

Oh I know about Fate Prototype, I'd love to see it get a full series. But the thing on Lancelot is, I feel like it would've been much stronger to replace the Guinevere affair with falling in love with Artoria. To me, it feels very lazy they genderswapped Arthur and Mordred, but then copy and pasted essentially the same stuff from the legend like that. I would've much preferred to have seen them play around with it in unique ways.

This doesn't make any sense at all the stories need to stay true to the legend in a way (even if there are some inaccuracies and genderbents because no one can get anyone story right esp if its old it all depends on the source) so thats why Lancelot can't be mordreds father it would never make sense

So King Arthur and his son actually being girls makes sense, despite still being believed to have been men in Fate's world, but Lancelot being Mordred's real father and Guinevere being added to the legend after the fact is too much of a stretch? It wouldn't even be the first time Mordred's father had changed, at one point in history, he was called Modredus and was depicted as only being Arthur's nephew. The thing about it is, the legend of King Arthur is a legend. It's been told and retold and had elements added and removed numerous times over centuries.

@@comicfannicolas3645 wouldn't Artoria being pregnant destroy the facade that she was male. Artoria due to pulling the sword made it so her body never age from that point onward, so it prevented her feminine traits from ever developing.

@@GreyCentaurus Lancer Artoria looks pretty damn matured in her feminine traits to me lol She could’ve been publicly absent during the pregnancy, I’m sure Merlin could’ve helped dream up some explanation for her. He has the ability to create illusions for one thing. The overall point is, I dislike the lack of thought and effort put into explaining these things. “Ah Merlin just gave her a dick” That is mind boggling anyone thought of that as a serious explanation for Mordred’s birth.

@@comicfannicolas3645 Lancer Artoria is different, she was able to age due to holding her divine spear for a long time, almost becoming a new person. The reason why Merlin gave Artoria is the need of a heir. As a king if you don't have an heir, it can destabilize your country. The plan was for Artoria and Gwen to have an heir, but Morgan took that opportunity to create Mordred.

@@GreyCentaurus that’s pretty crazy they were cool with fooling everyone into thinking Artoria was a man, but when it came to the subject of an heir it needed to be 100% conceived by Artoria. *That* part needed to be real for the public, they could be fooled by a woman masquerading as a man, but they’d never buy the kid coming from someone else.
