One of my favourite songs of all time and if I may be so bold you sing it very well. I have tried learning this before a long time ago and struggled, I find it much clearer and somewhat easier now. To be honest I think the techniques and the strumming patterns are certainly more very late beginner/early intermediate, than very new beginner but it's always good to push yourself. Very good lesson and we'll put across.

Listen to the intro. None of your intros are like the original. The second chord is hammered on. Give it a try. I grew up on the song and have now heard several versions on you tube playing with your suggested up stroke for the intro (possibly from your academy). Please do justice to this beautiful song.
