Wow, this one completely passed me by. Never heard of it. Love Lionel Jeffries.

This one completely got by me, never heard of it, was it broadcast in all regions, I can't think it wouldn't have been? It's so wonderful to see Anna Quayle, she was fabulous, you can't call her underrated, as she was well loved, but she just wasn't in enough, and she never made it to household name status, which was a loss to all. I especially loved her in Mapp & Lucia, "That's better, that's bitter!"

The episode is actually called Halfway to Heaven: it's in the opening title sequence, and that title it used in IMDB for the episode shown on 21 March 1982.

Thanks again for this! I really enjoyed this! This was much better than the other episode written by another scriptwriter and not by Vince Powell.

I've only been in this country close to thirty years, so I didn't see it the first time around. What I enjoy the most is all the now out of fashion language like doolaly and other words that people, in my experience, don't really use anymore. It wasn't the funniest, when compared to the greatest like Only Fools and Horses, but still got me laughing out loud. Love the past, cant say that Im a big fan of our present and likely future.

Great video. BTW, Twiggy's birthday comes next week. Hope you'll have some good stuff on her, including her variety series.

Isn’t this exactly the same premise as the Arthur Lowe programme?

i had forgotten all about this. Not the funniest series ever, but it is what it is and ok to waste 25 mins on. A lot of them from the 70s and 80s look laboured now, including some of the revered ones. It's partly timing and acting styles. Also some of the scripts are very forced. I suspect some of the later comedies will not fare any better.
