I just realized the reason this show was so short lived, Dermot Morgan (Father Ted) passed away in 1998 at the age of 45, shortly after they finished the third season. He died of a heart attack. Such a shame. RIP Father Ted.

I know this is late. Just looked at it now. I was so upset a few days ago, having a perfectly innocent conversation, and for some reason we brushed on Nazis and the Ukraine, etc. I'm from Austria, and for some reason I gave a few "Sieg Heil" Nazi Salutes, just what I thought innocent kind of stuff, you know. I'm a Vegetarian, no harm to anybody, but I'd love to express myself. But for some reason, this Jewish guy (he exposed himself as such), took offence to my theatrical Nazi imitations. Honesty, some people have no wisdom, I'm the most compassionate person there is, just have a wicked sense of black humor, and this Jewish guy thinks I'm a Nazi. God. I'm pretty sure they changed it in the French dub because it was more recent and therefore fresh in the memory of the public.

@Wolf by Nite Seconded. If you like this you'll definitely love Fawlty Towers, probably the funniest comedy ever to come out of the UK. Sadly only 12 30-minute episodes. I've seen it dozens and dozens of times and it still makes me belly laugh. Another is Only fools and Horses - a real classic. Neither series contains a single F-word; they rely upon pure comic genius and casting.

​@@MIck-M That is the worst possible interpretation of this episode's point. Graham Linehan said this is based on the racism immigrants faced when moving to Ireland in the 90s. He wrote this in frustration that the Irish have the reputation of being the friendliest people in the world, yet, when that was put to the test, they failed. You can see that clearly in the multi ethnic celebration, where Ted does the classic "I'm not racist, I know a black guy", then proceeds to make empty platitudes about chinese history to the point where he praised the very reason they left China in the first place. Ted isn't portrayed as accidentally racist, he's portrayed as mildly racist with incidents of perceived fascism due to misunderstandings. Arthur Matthews pointed out that the residents of Craggy Island followed Ted's example enthusiastically, whereas in the episode where he was protesting a blasphemous film they did exactly the opposite of what he told them, pointing out how easily people can jump on the racist bandwagon. Your interpretation says a lot about you. For one you didn't bother to find out Graham Linehan is a lefty.
