Christmas was sad for my family this year! My fiancé’s dad passed away suddenly on Monday night! 😭💔😩 He was 94 and had been sick for the last few months! We weren’t expecting him to go right before Christmas! The funeral is tomorrow morning!

December baby here, so the tree goes up after my birthday. Tree comes down whenever all of us can be here at the same time. Daughter works in long term care, so day off is usually when the tree comes down.

I am also a December baby. My birthday marks the start of the 12 days of Christmas, so decorations don't go up until the day after my birthday (except lights on the house because our roof is too tall and steep, so we have a fireman do them. He comes whenever it works for him, usually at the end of November.)

Half of my wife’s family is Russian Orthodox and they celebrate Christmas on January 6th. Even before I met them and when I was a kid we had a saying that the 3 wise men came on January 6th so we’d keep Christmas alive until then. Btw I know people who put their Christmas decorations up the day after Halloween. I’d at least wait until Advent in early December.

Christmas didn't start until December 25th and doesn't end until Epiphany on January 6th! My tree NEVER goes down before then! The rest is Advent, and, it's perfectly OK to put up your tree and decorations after you finish your after turkey Thanksgiving nap. (just don't sing Christmas carols until Christmas, LOL)
