Fun psych-med facts: How Abbie was today isn't necessarily how she would be off meds, but it's how she is when withdrawing from meds. When you stop psych meds you experience withdrawal symptoms for a while after; the withdrawal symptoms tend to be a magnification of whatever the meds suppress.

When I was a kid I would take my Ritalin for 3 days then skip it on the fourth day. The day without it was basically the best day of my life. I didn't do great in school on the fourth day but MAN I was HYPED!
@buildingburning
@buildingburning 6 жыл бұрын
@@fatheringautism Aw thanks for replying! :) Haha that's cute imagining younger Asa. That's actually really good to do with meds like Ritalin and similar stimulants, it's better to skip days if possible. Some parents choose the weekends but every four days is even better, although I bet that made school hard! I was mostly referring to antipsychotics, since the withdrawals even on day one with those are weeeird. I've heard antipsychotics are better to taper gradually than stop cold-turkey even for a day, since it can sometimes have neurological side effects. I thought Abbie took antipsychs but I'm not sure! But she seemed GREAT so honestly I bet she'd like hyper days off too ;) (Sorry for the rambly psych med info! I'm not a doctor in any way, but have lotsa personal experience and enjoy researching about meds haha.) edit: Also BTW Abbies squinty face at the end was just THE BEST ^_^

Holy cow y’all got some sweet communication going on recently!! Not just in this video, just the past couple weeks (months? I’m in college i have no concept of time 😂), Abbie deliberately signs and signs until she finds the right way to express what she knows she wants/needs. It’s so amazing to watch her power through, undeterred, and reap the rewards when she gets across what she wants. Watching these clips of her running around so excited and proud to have independently communicated for herself inspires me and makes me so happy. Keep that stubbornness, Abbie! You get what you want, girl! 💕

honestly you state this correctly. Me and my fiance being highly functioning Aspergers Syndrome, form of Autism Spectrum Disorder, can honestly notice a difference in myself when I take medication. I had done a medication switch, and my typically personality with the old medication and while off the medication was the way Abigail was in this video, happy, bubbly, extremely communicative, etc. The new medication made me switch to be suicidal depressive. It was the brand new pill for ADHD in 2006-2007 school year. I was telling my mother I wanted my life to be over, curled on the couch in a ball sobbing, not knowing what to do...I was thirteen years old. I had the doctor tell me I was making it all up in my head, and that he had prescribed this medication to MANY clients and none of them had adverse reactions. My mother luckily is a retired special education teacher, and had her depth of knowledge of different medications due to that. And she did her research on this new pill, and the first side effect was depression and suicidal thoughts. My mother was with me at this appointment and stuck up for me, and told the doctor there was no way I was taking that medication ever again, that the personality she saw on that new medication was the complete opposite of the personality I had for my entire rest of my life prior...but after that bad reaction and experience with the doctor I was completely turned off to medication. They put me on another new one but me being the vocal autistic, would tell my mother i took the pill, but would alternate between throwing it in the garbage inside, throwing in garbage outside. and i'd also even just tell my mother I forgot as we left the house and it was on purpose, even though I said it was an accident. My mother and I just finally decided we weren't going to fight about me taking the medicine and it didn't affect my sleep luckily, so I just stopped taking the medications all together. I just can tell the difference if I am on medicine or not...it just makes me feel funky.

Lisa M I laughed when I saw her pick the vacuum up and slam the door. How can you not see how she’s such a teenager. There’s something about that 13-14 teenage girl age. I know that’s when my girls thought I was the dumbest person on earth and tried everything to push my buttons. Of course, little did they realize that I too had been a teenage girl once upon a time. I can see a little defiance in Abbie and I love it. Did you not love the “after the beep” faces she was making?! Too cute! And super funny!

Straight in with the alternative artsy black and white to flashy colour intro...I'm into it...it's like that bit when Dorothy lands in Oz...which makes perfect sense, since you're basically the man behind the curtain ;-) 99*f!...yikes!....Florida hon are you feelin' okay? we all got slightly excited here yesterday because we were having a heatwave...it was 73*f...there were people enjoying jovial strolls on the esplanade of my coastal home town, some were even paddling...I mean the water temp is barely 60f so they're definitely losing toes, but still...Indian Summer! I wish I found hoovering that exciting...I loath hoovering...with a passion! It is the creation of the devil himself! A little bit of Quiz hostmaster power and Asa turns into Simon Cowell! Abbie's face at 13:35 that is some serious tired girl shade right there and as for her final face of the vlog...that was literally my face in every official school photo circa early-mid 1990's...never change Abbie, you glorious goofy monster ;-)

Just curious - could she be confusing the signs for To Go and GO potty because the wording is so similar? What if it was just need potty? I just noticed that it was similar and thought I would throw that out there. Thanks for all the great videos!

I love how much you get excited Cilla, it’s fab and never fails to bring a big cheesy grin to my face. I have a question please, a few times in this vlog, Abbie looked like she was putting her index finger to her mouth as if shushing you guys when you were trying to work out what she was saying. Was she shushing you, because you weren’t getting it; or was it a generalised motion?
