I appreciate this conversation. I went WFPB (Whole Foods Plant Based) 9 months ago. Spent 3 months in a Vegan community in Peru and we never used oils. Easier to eat in a warmer climate. All slow cooked, baked etc 🙏 Lost 30 pounds and reversed my NAFLD (non alcoholic fatty liver disease)

Great podcast, but having gone through the Food Matters Nutrition Certification Program, I have to admit I may be more confused now about what constitutes healthy fats and what food sources in which to get them :) I've ordered Udo's book and can't wait to read it.

Udo looks great for being 80 years old - not all dried up like some of the "No -Oil" older docs. For some reason on my computer, he looks like he had red lipstick? His oil product is tops!

Yes, Udo, you are so right, athletes perform a lot better on a high protein and high fat diet than they do on a high carbs diet !!!! FACT !!!!

loved this interview but why wasn't one of the most important oils in the world not mentioned which is olive oil?

Omega 3 oils are far superior.. hemp, linseed, chia etc.. olive oil is a predominantly monounsaturated oil that is a good generalist oil in the mediteraian.. very versatile but its not an essential oil for the body

Udos is contradicting himself when he says carbs are non-essentials, but also say we need to eat the essential minerals and vitamins. But these essential minerals, polyphenols and vitamins are found in plants! Plants are carbs! It is therefore misleading to claim humans don't need to eat carbs. Where d you get your fiber if you don't eat plants!? I have a lot of respect for the work Udos do. I just need clarification.

Aren’t aren’t carbs in of themselves. They contain some. Also polyphenols and fiber aren’t essential nutrients. They’re health supportive but not essential. Also, of course he’s mostly referring to processed or very high carb foods. Either way, people can survive without plant foods and get all the essential nutrients. Maybe not an ideal amount, but still. Protein and fats are absolutely essential. Our body can make carbs from protein and fats through gluconeogenesis.

I have about 6 oz of greens with a tbs of hemp seed oil, 2 tbs of flax oil, 1 tsp algae oil, 3 tbs flax meal, 2 tbs chia meal, 1/2 avocado, pecans, pumpkin seeds, macadamia nuts pretty every day. Do you think that is ok?

There is a PubMed article that does not support the conclusion of increased CAD in Indians with the consumption of ghee. On the contrary, it shows positive effect on the lipid profile in their research. Since this has been vetted for 1000s of years in the Ayurvedic texts, I'll stick with my daily consumption of ghee! (I have added Udo's Oil as a supplement a couple of months ago since I don't take fish oils.)
