I have both HDO2 and Skyzone 03O, but the fastest access to DVR recording is obviously Skyzones because you can set it to record automatically, and it will stop when it detects static and turn on again when it detects video signal. You don't have to press any button at all.

Good review. Comprehensive and honest. No diopter support was a deal breaker for me. +4/+6 (with astigmatism) prescription is outside of HDO2 adjustment range so I went with the 03O's. Lots of competition in the goggle market now with DJI, Skyzone and Orqa. Fatshark still have good customer service, but may start losing market share.

My first set came with a faulty lens and focal adjustment on the right side, there was also white dust over them as well which was inside the optics too, the replacement set I got are fine but they still had white dust on them. Image quality is amazing though, huge FoV similar to my HD2 but I can actually see the entire screen with no blurry edges at all, really happy with them.

Great review Andy! I really wanted to go digital, but the HDO2 was a better choice for me. The IPD and focal adjustment should be on all goggles. It's the first pair I've had (out of 7 total), that I can get a comfortable fit AND clear picture edge to edge. The other small thing about DJI, is there is no option to transmit live audio. Not a deal breaker, but it's nice to be able to hear real time motor response. Maybe they'll add it in the next revision :)

I think if DJI makes a standalone receiver, other binocular goggles manufacturers still have a chance. The way things are going, with DJI system capable of providing both analog and digital video the way they do, prices are still high, but similar across the high end board, it would be a waste not to buy into DJI system. I don't have it yet. I still fly analog only on a cheaper FXT goggle and they work well. I will wait for the digital dust to settle before upgrading.

I'm almost sure that I would go all the way with DJI, but still I'm hesitating a bit to sell or not to sell my HDO's v1. Initial thought was to switch to HDO2 as fast as possible, but I'm getting a feeling that the differences between HDO and HDO2 will disappear as soon as I start to fly digital...Especially if I can have analog in DJI or just fly with some cheaper gogles. The only downside of the DJI I see now is that I need to get a second pair of DJI gogles for my daughter and non flying friends. With analog it was easy and cheap to just buy a set od EV800D and show people what's it all about.

Kabab mentioned that touching any buttons on the dji goggles kills the analog feed? And starting it is buried in the menus? Can you verify that? Not that it matters much, i already have the hdo2-s. Left the domv3-s in the box. I'm still sitting on the fence when it comes to hd, bytefrost seems doing interesting things too.
@AndyRCchannel4 жыл бұрын
The thing with DJI stuff is it seems they can change anything. At the moment the goggles always boot up in HD mode. So you have to go into the settings and select analog mode, I wouldnt call it buried though, some of the skyzone stuff is bueried with double and tripple function buttons. Im sure If i speak to dji they could put a fix in so that it remembers the mode you were in but analogue is not their priority. As for touching buttons If you press the back button then its gonna take you back to the HD menu. I guess they could add an update so that it has to be a long press of the back button just for analogue I can certainly feed that back. The joystick adjusts the brightness and contrast and doesn't kill the feed. Until fatshark themselves acknowledge that byte frost is worth buying and will come to fruition as a final product then I would consider it. But iv been advised by trusted people not to buy the current iteration

Nice review Andy! True as always. If you asked me the hdo2 for sure is a great Goggle but fatshark is for laughs for making a brand new product and in order to add that f@..ng button had to remove a hole feature that previous models had as the case of the goggle is not a new design and they had to fit in a spot that already existed.
@mougnette4 жыл бұрын
It has been done this way so people with older models can get the new board with the power button and use it in older goggles and also people using Headtracker can retrofit the older board to keep using the Trinity HT. The mold is new and different so it's not what motivated using the same hole. To my eyes it actually looks like a company taking care of people who have bought a product years ago.

I have a wonky thigh, well more like my hip do you thing these will help..... Ooo you mean eye silly me. I like the LDO2 I have and the reason why I went for them is the same reason why someone who has a nikon camera sticks with Nikon and that is the investment around them like video TX and most I fly with use analog. If someone was starting from fresh without any kit then you may wish to start with a cheep set of goggles and if then your well into it get eather DJI or Fatsharks pending how you want to fly. The problem with the fitting to the face is simple, no one is made the same and sometime it will take enginuity to help get the best fit. One suggestion I will make when wearing these LDO2 is put a hat on, if you don't have a hat and move the goggles to rest on top of your head you will find that the lens will need cleaning each time you put them back on your face. The reason for this is the lens is so close to your eyes when you put them resing on your head the lens starts rubbing/touching you hair or your skin messing up the lens and possibly knocking out the adjustment you made to the lens, not a good thing if you slam on the goggles fast to do a race with now fuzzy out of focus smudged lenses. All in all good honest review Andy and this is how reviews should be.

I hope fatshark sinks because of these. They have been screwing over the consumer for so long now with little to no innovation for an exhorbitant price

I'll stick to Hd3 and DJI. HDO2 doesn't make sense in a value standpoint. My Rapid-fire has been trouble from day one with the top RX glitching out on low power.

rapidfire requires a lot of juice so you need to use a big battery otherwise if the pack cant provide enough current even from a full charge the battery will sag as soon as you turn the goggles on in the same way a current hungry quads battery does on a punch out.

@@AndyRCchannel Zero to do with that. Googles have the L1 and L10 mod AND the power booster module, and it still warns low power. The top RX will glitch and go off channel. Even ImmersionRC said it's faulty.

@@SickocrowAU Ah well in that case you should RMA it? there have been some faulty ones. I couldn't do without mine but it all depends where you fly. Open fields dont require rapidfire, but a normal diversity systems doesnt let me go anywhere near those trees at the back on 25mw or perform well when i fly indoors / bandos

Seems like a super rushed product. Too many little things where I'm thinking, why did they not do that?
