I have 2 of these in my back garden and they really are one of my favourite plants. I like to prune mine into a tree form, I just peel off the old leaves every year and just keep the new ones. I’ve recently planted 3 of the ‘spider’ ones in my front garden and I’ll do the same to those as I like that look. Loving your new channel 😊

I love this plant. Growing up in Japan, I remember seeing it at almost every garden. It is called "Yatsude" meaning 8-fingered hand. The leaves look like hands with 8 fingers (not always 8). I am crossing fingers that mine will be OK after a few weeks of frigid temperature.

I'm in zone 10 and have this in a good-sized container located on the north side of my home and it is doing amazingly well. I haven't seen any flowers yet. It is about 4 feet high and I have some leaves that are over 12 inches across. I don't know if this had anything to do with using some Miracle Gro. Best part-shade plant that I have found so far. I do love the tropical look of this plant.

This is my second year with this plant and its growing beautifully in an area where shade or semi shade plants usually burn. First year blooming in zone 8a. These flowers are exactly as you described even though I was expecting a different type of white flower seen on an old Fatsia in my neighbors yard. Leaves are definitely the focal point.
@rachelhall48082 жыл бұрын
Hello! I live Tx in 8a and bought a fatsia maybe a month and a half ago. I just fell in love with the leaves❤️. I REALLY REALLY wanted to plant it in my yard but got cold feet for fear I would loose it during our extremely hot summers, so I potted it up and put it on my porch. I was wondering where you were in the 8a zone and how hot/cold you get there? I’m looking for the courage to plant mine out in the landscape because it would be gorgeous, but I don’t want to loose it. I loose a lot of plants because I’m fairly new to gardening!

My fatsia grow well in north Atlanta zone 7a or b depending on which map I use. One is in unprotected shade and one in unprotected part sun. Both are 8' tall. They give a tropical look to the garden and are very easy to propagate. Last year I even stuck a leaf and stem in the ground to see what would happen and it grew too.

Helpful information once again! I have a fatsia japonica in a nice shade garden by my shed. It's going on year 3 and I'm hoping for some good growth this year. The deer decimated the shrub the first year (zone 7b), so it took some time to recover. But now I know to spray it with my deer deterrent.

Your plants are beautiful. I have a couple out back I love them and check them a couple of times a week. One thing I would like to know is how to keep the leaves that rich, dark green color. Some of the leaves are light, almost yellow. It's not a big deal but love the dark green. It suits the garden better. I think it looks healthier too.

Grows in zone 7 near mountains so it's fairly hardy under shade trees or up against house in cooler side. Mulch heavily.
