I really appreciate that you use the Latin names for all the plants you talk about.

What a cool plant! It almost looks like a houseplant more than a landscape plant. Fabulous!

CA zone 9 central valley. We get 0 water in the summer. Our acuba has been in since before we moved in. We water during heat waves (100+ degrees) about 3 or 4 times a summer, and that's it. Its planted in full shade but gets lots of indirect light. It's a beast

Say what is this, a new channel? Lovely plant. I remember this one fondly as my 6 year old nephew at the time wanted to know immediately what it was. It was in the shade, wonderful color and so dramatic.

My parents’ garden has the gold dust acuba in their garden that has done really well. This would be a great variety to add to their garden. Thanks for sharing Jim.

I have a very happy (aka plenty big) Aucuba and I'd like to have a second one growing in another spot in my garden. Can I divide it? Or I saw you show where you put a brick on one stem of a hydrangea or some other plant to make it root... should I do that? Appreciate any advice!

Why is it that all the plants that you show are so hard to find on the west coast in box stores or nurseries? So glad there is the internet to buy on line. Thanks for getting the word out about this plant! I had a gold dust but it died so I'm going to try this one. One day an acouba is going to make it, fingers crossed it will be this one.

Hopefully the industry will pursue some of these unique additions to landscapes-not only the standard selections! Mail order is so go for unique plants though

Excellent ideas about how to use this plan. I inherited one against my front porch. I’m not a fan. However I now know to where I can repurpose it.

Enjoying the new channel! I have multiple aucuba gold dust plants, all rooted in water from a friend’s plant years ago. Several have white fly infestation. Do I just spray with neem oil to eliminate? The leaves eventually turn black and fall off. But most are beautiful plants, so tropical looking in my Mississippi garden.

I inherited an Aucuba Japonica when I bought my house 2 years ago. It's in a sunny location. I'm new to gardening and didn't know it is shade loving nor did I know it is deer food. It is an old plant. I can tell by the old thick trunks left behind that it has been cut down several times. It is growing slowly, maybe due to being in the sun and I haven't watered it. It's been dry here in zone 7a/ East TN... at least in my spot on a hill. I will give it water in the summer now and hope the deer don't eat it.

I was hoping it would be hardy in zone 6, as it's a beautiful evergreen!

I couldn't find any acuba at all this fall at my normal plant haunts but I'm definitely keeping an eye out. I'll have to figure out the deer thing, though.

I planted a gold dust japonica over the summer. Literally did nothing after planting & water occasionally, it’s doing super! I prefer the more green with just light yellow specs.

I'm going to have to try this one. I had the Mr Goldstrike, and overnight, it just drooped and died. It was so shocking because it was almost two years old and so beautiful.

I have Gold Dust planted between my garage and my neighbor as a screen. They are growing tall and slender on one or two main branches. Can I pinch off the tops to make them branch out fuller?

I have a bad deer problem - they literally sleep in a thicket like 50 yards from an old huge hedge of a acuba j in my yard - they never touch it. I see it all over my chapel hill nc neighborhood too and deer are all over. Strange to consider it badly damaged by deer
