minecraft! IRL & IRT. I did this about 20 years ago w/ chicken wire, paper-Mâchét and quickcrete my kids wanted a castle tower and "bat cave" play-yard. They helped build it, everything took us 3 summers to build. It was magnificent!

This is great! I love to landscape with large rocks but have no way to transport them. I also am a DIYer. I have sand carved in small rocks when my father owned a monument business years ago so people could mark their pets graves. I really want to try this. Probably have to wait until my back heals from back surgery in September though. I have lifted way to many heavy things throughout life. 😊

Me: Hires local meth heads and a few nothing to do out of college kids. Goes to local forest or mountain area with truck. Brings jack, straps, and elbow grease and drops rocks and boulders in truck. Then make it back before sundown to load off and give them 50 bucks each, a freshly grilled burger, and a few beers for a job well done lol

I used some large fake boulders in one of my front yards that I did years ago only mine were made from fiberglass. They held up well over the years and they looked very realistic. People didn't realize that they were fake.

I’ll have to apologize this was on site training for a man who was making 50 rocks for a lake project. Typically my rocks will weigh in at about 3 pounds per square foot of surface area in generally installed Koster about five dollars a square foot of surface area. Thanks for watching my video.

I need to make something like this for a playground at the local college in my area. how strong are these cardboard versions when you are all done? would it hold the weight of multiple small children haha? The cardboard is a great temporary form to create your rock…the strength of your rock is the shell. Depending on the formulation of the mixture you plan to use will determine how thick you’d have to make it. I always use the textile mesh not the wire mesh. Never ever make a frame with wood as it can get wet and expand and hydraulically break apart your Cement bad idea this I know from many experiences. With all that said, I make huge playground climbing wall equipment pieces that are about three-quarter inch thickness, and they support many children for decades. Sean, the glue you’re looking for is 100% acrylic carried in water as it’s an ad mixture for the Cement. You will see me use that very same glue to seal the cardboard an hour or so before I start muddying it so that the cardboard does not get wet and lose its rigidity or collapse. Thanks for watching.

There is nothing inside the boxes… The screws have threads which thread into the cardboard … The mix is a proprietary, fiber, reinforcement, composite . Unfortunately, I only give that formulation out to paying customers whom I train. Well we do after spraying the cardboard with the acrylic glue to give it a waterproofing so it doesn’t collapse or SAG from the wet cement is we oil it so that the cardboard cannot stick to the Cement in the box comes right out?

If I were building rock for a large bank, I wouldn’t be building it as though you had seen me do so in the video. These rocks have a very specific application and need to be stronger and lightweight. Whereas your rock from the rock bank can be made with a regular mortar mix. I offer one on one training assistance for people such as yourself it might do you well to give me a call to discuss your options. The type of glue that was use was 100% acrylic glue and there’s a lot of different types of fiber that can be used. The particular mix that I used in. I think Elmers glue is a latex what you wouldn’t want to use. Nevertheless, whatever glue you’re gonna purchase you need to find out if it’s 100% acrylic or not you don’t want anything but acrylic as an admixture.

Do you prime the cardboard prior to covering with cement finish ?

We spray in acrylic glue on the cardboard about an hour prior to muddying it so that it waterproof the cardboard so it doesn’t receive water and lose its rigidity. We’re not using it as a bonding agent cause we don’t care if it actually bunch to the cardboard cardboard is simply a form with no strength or future hopes of strength occurring from it

It’s very common questions throughout my history of work… especially when you have a grotto that you make a patio on top people freaked out about standing on the stuff, but I assure you even the smallest rocks. We make our plenty strong enough to put a lot of bearing weight on.

I’m actually working with a nonprofit currently with a strong belief I can make a Home out of concrete that is going to pass inspection or scrutiny from governments around the world. Affordable housing is really needed across this globe and more governments are willing to subsidize technologies that are actually proven out as being legitimate. Keep in mind with anything I created a cardboard it’s simply a form not the structure, but a form I hope to be videoing some projects here in the near future still negotiating, but I’m optimistic. There’s a path forward. My last company received a $250,000 grant from the state of California to prove out a building system that I created using used carpet and a lot of people laugh at that but I’m telling you there’s a lot of ways to build other than conventional ways stick with me sports fans .

@fauxrock For me, I consider this a specialty trade that falls under landscaping, but not exactly. Like akin to seeing an orthodontist over a normal dentist. It's a fine-tuned art for a niche market and hobbyist. I've been drawn to this type of thing since I'm obsessed with prop making and Halloween. It also aligns a lot with the architecture that is built within line queues at theme parks like Disney and Universal Studios. Every time I visit these places, I end up analyzing the rocks and faux landscaping, wondering how I might be able to recreate such works of art myself. Why not use what is known as ‘scrim ‘ in the UK ? Essentially it’s open weave hessian or burlap as I believe it’s called in US.

@@fauxrock thank you. Great minds think alike. Every city dump needs a pile off to the side just for DIY types to have a stock pile. I pay to have it delivered because it has many uses. Under my pools, as erosion barriers, but the carpet samples used like patches actually work the best as shingles. Also, using cardboard for mulch in the garden works great as well. Carpet for walkways and the moisture goes nowhere.
